People slam the 2200 on this site cause its an older ohv design engine. That doesn't make it a bad engine, just means someone has to know what they're doing to make power. How many 'stang owners you know of yanking 5.0L ohv 302's out of their car to put a 4.6L ohc engine in. The ecotec has more aftermarket support and has better results with bolt ons, but I'd have a hard time convincing myself to pull out the 2200 to put an ecotec in when I could pull my head and take it to the machine shop to have it worked over, drop in a new cam with roller rockers, and put out comparable power to an ecotec for less money and hassle than doing the swap.

Don't take that way of thinking to heart...you would have a hard time explaining how titanium can be stronger and lighter...

I'm still not sure if anyone knows whether the 2200 is lighter than the eco

Titanium is stronger and lighter based on chemical properties alone. I wasnt saying that it was true for all metals, but in the case of Aluminum versus iron for the two having the same volume iron will weigh more.

I have a HCI that talks all about the J-bodies and they claim the eco weighs 305lbs to be exact and that is fully dressed with everything on it..

And I was moving some spare 2200 blocks around that weigh near 100 pounds bare.
I was say the whole 2200 engine weighs close to 400 to 500

well..i ran a 75 wet shot on my 2.2 3 spd auto for about 2 years and never had a problem. i ran a msd dis 2 at 4 to 6 degrees retard with ngk tr6. i lost count but i would estimate i did about 120 refills on the bottle. I ran 17.6 before the nitrous and my best run with it was a 14.9. I say spray away my friend as long as your not afraid of blowing the motor because i do consider myself lucky..i melted about 8 spark plugs and people say this motor cant handle abuse..@!#$ them.

umm who cares how much they weigh, Sure 2.2ohv's suck for power but they are awesome for reliability. Thats after 5 years of hard abuse on mine.
