i love this thread, im thinking of direct port and i want to do something lke the direct port on the HO mani like on the first page. im thinking of moving the battery to the trunk and putting the msd box and all the nitrous equipment under a plexiglass box where the battery used to be, and maybe make a cover for it so its hidden

thats an injector nozzle kit... their engine specific.. i believe summit has them for the b18c's. (ingetra gsr) its around 800 or so... idk if they have any jbody kits... i highly doubt it. id jsut go for a direct port kit.

Quick NOS question.

If i wanted to do a hidden fogger setup like protomec i think had earlier, would i just buy a fogger kit or separate nozzles and a 1-4 separator.

Could each cylinder handle a 25 shot?

Im new to nos, not new to J or boost.

NOS is a brand.. A stock motor can handle a 100hp shot if set up correctly. How long it can handle it would be debatable. If you are new to nitrous, start out small. Deffinately start out wet but with a 50-75hp single fogger system. Upgrade to direct port later down the road when you know nitrous is what you want and you don't mind that the power is not on all the time. To upgrade to direct port you only need to replace the lines after the solenoids.. adding a splitter block at the intake manifold.
Before you look into nitrous though you may want to think about a swap to a motor that starts off with higher HP.

hey Josh, I'm on my way to getting this thing done. I checked with NOS and their instruction manuals don't say anything about a distance away from the head. I also checked out some of their pics in the install manual and it looked like they had the direct port installed only 2 inches or less from the head.

so this is what I did.

there are more pics here.
wOOt! wOOt!
its definately a work in progress, but its gonna be fun soon!

stock "ish" up front...

party in the back

I blew it up 3 days later on the dyno with 184.88hp at 3800rpm

Lesson learned = Dont ream out a .040dia nozzle to .054dia nozzle.....on a dry kit......with no other upgrades....on a completly stock motor.....that has 110,000 miles on it.

Having fun with the grocery getter.

NOPE! Gonna blow it up and have fun doin it!
Seriously tho, if I blow it up, I have a spare motor and with that all I am gonna do is rods and stock compression pistons.
I figure that I will run the smallest nozzles possible, with maybe fairly large fuel so it runs mega rich, with the GM SC timing retard I should have a lil time before I blow it up...

I am so tired of these money pits called 4 cylinders.... What I am probably gonna do is just part the car out if I blow it up and start work on my LS1 Datsun.... I drove down to Georgia from NY about 6 years ago to buy that car and its been sitting in my garage ever since. I test drove an LS1 camaro and wow, then to find out the stock block can take over 600 hp, it comes with 310, 200 shot direct port, and call it a day... thanks for asking tho.
