nitrous prep
Tuesday, May 23, 2006 10:43 AM
I'm planning on adding juice over the summer, only using a 35 shot, and I was wondering if I need any upgrades. So far I have CAI, 4-1 Header, full exhaust, Iridium spark plugs, ground kit, hypervoltage, 62mm tb, lower engine mount, and JBP stage III cams. I am about to get a 3000stall torque converter, B&M shiftplus, lightweight alternator and crank pulleys, upper engine mount, and most likely P&P my head. (Reprogramming PCM end of summer). Do I need anything else as of now? Or can my engine handle a 35 shot til I get a bigger fuel pump, injectors, both in a few months, and then forged pistons and new rods in the winter? Or should I just wait?

Any input will be much appreciated.

Just do reasearch on what you want and make sure you know what you are doing when you get it. There is 100 percent safe way to use Nitrous. Something could always go wrong. There are safety precautions you could take.

All The mods you mentioned are helpful but not necessary to use Nitrous. Check Out Nitrous Pressure Gauge, Bottle Blanket, Fuel Pressure Gauge, Fuel Pressure Safety Swtich. Upgrade Fuel Pump, Copper Plugs,

As for the 35 shot. Since you plan to rebuild it I would start out at 35 and gradually up the spray to see what it could handle..

So upgrade my fuel pump. No need for new for new injectors just yet? And my stock pistons will do just fine? Sounds good, fuel pump shouldn't cost that much.

that 35 shot will last you all of an hour, then its no fun anymore. Either upgrade your fuel pump or add an MSD external fuel pump and run a WET!!!!!!! 50 shot.

you can get away with a 35 shot. just run 93 octane gas and the proper spark plugs. id even go as high as a 75.
maybe a 100 shot. to compenstate for feul on the 100 shot, just insert a bigger feul jet

So low of a shot because I'm always so paranoid something will go wrong with my car the more racing I do. Once I get forged internals and upgraded fuel system then I won't be as paranoid.

Oh, octance question. Does higher octane just make nitrous run better, or does it lessen the chances of detonation?
