But then you have Brian, who had 280 whp with a full interior on street tires, running a 12.8 (don't recall his trap though). So roughly the same power on DR's or slicks should get around that time or better. Then you have me, for instance, running 13.7 with 220 whp with an absolute crap 2.3 second 60' @ 103.5 mph. Rule of thumb says that every tenth you can shave off the first 60' you can usually expect 2 tenths in your 1/4 mile et. Figure it out, it's not impossible. I have no clue why you're not in the 12's all motor and deep into the 11's on spray. If I had the chance to drive your car, I most certainly would Not saying I'd do any better, but at least I only weigh 165.

No problem at all. I am man enough to admint. I dont know how to drive well I guess.. or its just my weight.. that simple... either way... thats all I have to work with...

BTW did you ever dyno your car on the 75 shot?

I dont recall but did Brian ever dyno his car when he was running that high amount of boost?

The Hahn prototype show car the orange and silver one ran 12.9 on drag radials and 12psi which is about 260-270 whp

Karo, you ARE the man. I'm not trying to put you down by any means. I'm just sharing why I think it's possible. As far as dyno numbers, I have none. I use my trap speeds to calculate my whp numbers. I know exactly how much my car weighs, and how much I weigh, and I have a nice little calculator that tells my whp based on those figures. I'll post the link later and you can tell me what you think of it.

I never said you are trying to put me down. I am just a normal human. I am not the man or anything in those lines. I go off the numbers I have in front of me. No calculations by other websites or anything just hard facts that I have gathered up. Maybe my car can go faster but due to MY weight its not or due to MY lack of driving skills either way I will never know since I will be the only one driving my own car. If it can go faster then I guess I have 2 areas I need to work at.

You guys also forget one big thing when you compare nitrous cars to turbo cars.

Turbo cars takes up RPM / Time to build up the power.

Nitrous car soon as the nitrous kicks in the power is there. No ands ifs or butts about it. No real lag at all...

That is another reason why I think nitrous cars will have more traction issues compared to a turbo car.

I suppose anything is possible these days.. Just given with the facts that I my self have I find it hard to believe that on a stock ecotec with a 150 shot of single efi the guy ran a 12.6..... also with you saying with a 150 shot you can run low 12s on your drag radials if you can pull a 1.8 60 ft time...

Again just me and how I am thinking about the whole thing..... If you guys can do it then more power to all of you.. because... I sure can heck can not on my own.. so who knows....

BTW all those HP calculators and any other calculators you find online.. Its hard to believe.. because those numbers are in a PERFECT world... least from what I know...

Hey karo,

I finally made it to the bash last year and got the chance to see you run your car. For some reason it just didnt seem like it was running as well as it could have. Were you having problems with it then?

If thats the case.. maybe some of the people off the org need to come drive my sunfire.. I am sure they will be able to get it running 10s with my current setup.. on drag radials.. and not even slicks.....

Yes I was having nitrous problems. With the nitrous kicking on and off I pulled a best 12.6 @ 117 MPH... with out the nitrous when I ran N/A for a few runs I ran 13.2 or 13.3...

Either way soon hopefully the problems will go away.

Well seeing how if someone else drove my car and they broke something on the car then you know.... it would not be a good thing... since well I would kind of be all pissed about it.... now if someone wanted to take responsibility then who knows... maybe something could be worked out...

Either way... I have no clue....

depends on what nozzle he is using the shark nozzle can be run to 200hp........i have seen some even go beyond the 200 mark. Not in Cavaliers though....lol

I'd say BS too........who just blows their motor for fun anyway????

Hey all, check out the calculator I use to determine whp numbers. Anybody who has been on a chassis dyno, and knows the exact weight of your car and what it traps, post here how close the calculator got to your actual dyno figure.

Virtual dyno

Re: 12.6 on eco

You Entered:
Vehicle Weight - 2375 (lbs)
Trap Speed - 112 (mph)
Drivetrain Loss - 14 (

Results:
Rear Wheel HP - 226.6
Crankshaft HP - 263.5
Power to Weight (rwhp) - 10.5 (lower is better)
Power to Weight (crank hp) - 9 (lower is better)

Makes NO sense.. and does not add up to what I have..... then again... who knows.. maybe I messed up while driving? Not sure.

Re: 12.6 on eco

wow, that's really weird. It's saying that you have the same whp as I do. But I trap 103.5 and weigh 2860. There has to be something going goofy with , i dunno, something. That's supposedly one of the most accurate ways to determine whp. It's a real world number that you can't fudge like you can on a dyno. Anybody else gonna have a go at it?

I blew one up with a stuck nitrous solenoid.

then another being stupid with a turbo on my car and no fuel mods.

So I am on my 3rd ecotec engine.

Both times were not the engines fault tho.

For example...
Id like to see a stock LD9 take a 75 shot in idle with only the nitrous jet spraying....
and Id like to see a stock LD9 take the abuse I put my car through with that turbo and no fuel haha.

but then you have the guys who 2-step to try to take care of lag issues out of the hole, causing a new problem called no traction, hehe.
Re: 12.6 on eco
Thursday, February 17, 2005 5:50 PM
Those calculators aren't that accurate. More traction brings lower trap speeds. If I wanted to, I could just dump the clutch and roast the tires through first and second, and pull an extra mile an hour or two in the traps, but it would kill my quarter mile times.

NItro, what size shot did you run on the 13.7 run?

O noes!
