Sprayin w/ the HO mani
Tuesday, March 01, 2005 10:53 AM
Just curious if anyone has run nitrous with the HO manifold. Wondering if it'll spread to each cylinder ok or if the only safe way to go with the HO is to go direct port. If anyone has done it, let me know. Thanks.

I eventually plan on an 086 head swap with the HO mani, and I plan on switching to DP at the same time, but only so I can spray a larger shot. I think you'll be alright with a single nozzle system, but keep the HP setting low and keep checking your plugs to see if they all look the same (even though it's a PITA).

Ive ran a single EFI with the HO manifold... probably about 30 runs or so.. no problems... Only real problem which I came across was when I stepped it up to a dual stage... not sure what happend but I had a major backfire on the intake side... on the single you will be fine.. I am going back to a direct port yet again... NX must love me.. every 2 months I change my mind and buy a diff kit... LOL

Sure does.... right now I ordered the Nitrous Controller... waiting for them to get it in stock so they can send it out to me... with the new direct port and the nitrous controller I think I should see better times with the car . . . .

How much can you spray off the line before traction becomes an issue with the slicks?

Other mods?

And Karo, 11's for sure now, bud!

If "other mods?" was directed towards me, I have .040 overbore, 9:1 c/r, p+p'ed head, cams, t3/t4 turbo, intercooler, and fuel mods of course. I was mainly wonderin if Karo was having traction issues, and what was he sprayin off the line. I sprayed the last couple years and ran a 13.8 with a 75 shot, couldn't spray till 2nd with drag radials.

Running 24.5x15x8 MT Slicks in the Front.. with a 75 shot on a great track day I pulled 1.602 60' Time... on a 100 shot off the line at a different track on a different day traction was NOT good what so ever... I roasted through first gear like it was no ones business......

I am going to be stepping it down to a 35 or a 50 off the line.... just waiting on NX for the controller.

Why not install one of the NOS progressive solenoid controllers? One of those should prove to be much more effective(and cheaper) than a double-stage system. I've seen them on ebay now and then.

i don't know what direct port injection is do you tap in the same place as you would with a regular wet kit?

Take a look at Ruen's post, instead of having a single nozzle spray before the TB, there are individual nozzles after the TB, in each intake runner. Lets you spray alot more, and you know each cylinder is getting the same amount of fuel and nitrous.

Direct port is the only way to go!!! Been running mine for like 3 years or so. Most the time it works great but I am racing every weekend so I tend to run into more probs than most of you.

hey Karo hitting any of the midwest races this year!! we need to run some time!
I dont know what my schedual is all yet i have like 30 races already and havent figured the nopi or NHRA races yet! But I need to win in the early season to race all year.
or else the GA gets parked and my other car races lol, shame the the Trans Am has been better too me far as making money the last year or so.

I am spraying with the HO mani and my air fuel ratio runs no more than a 12.6:1 on a 55 shot. I 'd have to assume that its safe and that it evenly distributes. I'm gonna try the 75 shot today. will give A/F specs after that run.

Wish I had an EGT for each cylinder to monitor distribution, but that I don't have.
