anyone else have fitment problems with aftermarket dash kits? i installed a panasonic 8100 into an 02 cavy, only to find out the trim plate for the head unit wouldn't fit with the dash kit and the dash kit wouldn't fit under the bezel that goes around the radio and gauges. the kit is whatever brand jerk it city sells, i don't recall which one.

the last kit i got for this car came from the shop i worked for. i had no problems whatsoever with it. this recent kit fit so horribly i had to leave the trim off of the hu and take the dremel to parts of the kit so the bezel would fit around it. it looks absolutley horrid and i want to fix it, but now i don't know what brand kit to buy. the next nearest place to buy dash kits is half an hour away.

any input?

is it the one with the pocket that is molded in? or is it the one with the pocket that snaps in with clips?

i don't remember which brand it is..but one of them doesn't fit to well if you have the bezel on the radio face..might have to take it off.

i had to cut a bunch of plastic out of the inside to get mine to fit right....

the pocket is molded in. the radio bezelwon't go on at all and the dash bezel wouldn't go on without trimming som of the front off the dash kit.

yep. i had the same problem on an 02 cavy. we just left the radio bezel off. and forced it all together. it fit, but it was tight.

is there another kit that fits better in the 02? it's my girl's car, and she really doesn't care. every time i get in there, though, it bugs the crap out of me.

I got the flush mount kit for my buddys 01 cav from BB and had no problems. Had to do a litte trimming inside the dash for the deck to go all the way back, but the kit went in fine.

if it was my car i wouldn't care about a little trimming. it's not mine, however, so i don't want to cut into it.

which brand is your kit? there's another one that has a snap in pocket, that's what i have in my car and it fits fine,

it depends on the deck wether or not you can use the trim.

Here's a pic of mine. i don't recall wether it's the Scoshe kit or the metra, but it's one of the two (i'm thinking metra)

i know it's not the one i have. my pocket is seperate.

i have both..just can't remmeber which is which, so i can't really say what one you should get, lol.

from what i can gather, circuit city sells metra. i would look for a scocshe kit and try that

That's the Scosche kit.. I've got that one also.. they carry it at Wal-Mart lol

kind of off topic, why is your HVAC panel and controls different?

I have the metra turbo kit from circuit city and I cannot use my cage or trim ring on it. I wanna get the scosche kit as well so i can mount it flush.
