switch panel/box questions
Tuesday, March 08, 2005 9:34 PM
Ok, I am fairly famaliar with switches, etc. But I have a few questions, I am looking at making a switch panel/box that will have 8 switches on it, I plan on using 8 blue LED switches, with 8 relays. My first question is where would I find the material or box to use for it? I am not very famaliar with making the box or panel. Secondly, would I be correct in that I could use the 8 switches with the relays, and just run wire from relay to relay, and switch to switch for the power to light the switches and also supply the power to the relays? If anyone has any easier ideas as to wiring up 8 switches I would appreciate it. Roughly, I am looking at a switch box that would be a bit higher than a relay size, approx. 24 inches across, and 12 inches deep. Basicly I am working on trying to mount it in the space where the factory ash tray for the 02 cavy would be, since my car don't have the ashtray, and it looks like a good place to mount a switch box.

not quite exactly what I was looking for but that does look sweet, I am basicly looking for more of the square type to mount under the hvac but my main question is what to use for making this box, like aluminum or sheet metal, etc. Lexan would be good idea if I was not going to be painting it to match my interor colors( at least the colors they will be once my interior is painted). Anoter question I just thought of, would I be correct in using relays with the switches or would there be an easier way to wire up 8 switches in a box?

Hey Chris, that would work great since I would be looking at either painting it blue or black to stay with the color scheme of the car, I won't be at the meet this weekend because I am going with a friend to a dealer show in lancaster but if the weather stays good I should definately be at the next meet. If that weekend is not a good time, feel free to get in contact with me on yahoo, aim or email because I would definately be intrested. Let me know if you want anything for it and all as well.
