radio deck relocation?

Ok guys, having only posted here once before, let me know if this is in the wrong forum.
I was thinking about the possibility of moving my CD/MP3 (a cheap JVC) deck into the center console, and have already built most of the frame to mount it to. While looking for the dimensions of the hole I needed to cut for the radio sleeve, I happened to notice that the install instructions say not to mount the deck at more than a 30 degree angle. Is there a reason for this, or will my deck still play CDs while vertical? If it won't, are there any aftermarket decks that will?

Thanks in advanced.

None that I can think of. The suspension won't allow for it to play properly, nor will it eject (some decks) fully. Your best bet is the glove box and a remote, if stealth is your primary objective here.

another option you can try:

if it has a detachable face, some guys over at mp3car.com forums have used cat5 cable (networking cable) and soldered an extension cable between the faceplate and the actual deck.

it's a pretty cool idea, because you can hide the cable, and mount the face anywhere ... sun visor, headliner, dash, etc. and hide the deck unit anywhere you want.

to give you an idea

hey guys, thanks for the info. I am not so sure about the cat5 and hiding the deck so far out of reach. I still use it, and am often changing cds, so I was looking for a place close to the driver to mount it. Being a glutten for punishment I went ahead and mock installed the radio in the console, and after the results, I would agree with AMERICONIUM on it not working! the CDs would not play at all, and would not eject.
Maybe I will just have to look into the carpc idea, and load all of my cds as MP3s on the hard drive. Any suggestions of PCs or parts I could put together?
