anyone know of some good 10 or 12 inch midrange drivers? as of now i know of beyma and Electro-Voice, but i wanna know if theres something else/better out there. beymas sound amazing btw.
10 or 12 inch midrange? I think you mean woofer? And you do relize that electro-voice is Pro sound? and you are going to pay a good chunk of cash. And Beyma has their consumer line and pro sound line, but either one is very good quality.

yea, i have a pretty good idea of what its going to cost me. i like the beyma's sound more than the electro voice right now, but i've never really heardanything else other than these two. EV has so many different speakers i dont even know which one to look at.
i HAD a pair of Electro voice 15 inch, but i sold them for 250 the pair because (1) it was too big to fit what i'm looking for and (2) i didnt have any subs and i needed cash quick. now i kind of wish i wouldnt have sold them, as they would fit where i want them now. still, i'm pretty convinced i'm going for the beyma's unless someone can point me to some other 10-12 inch mid-woofers.
Im curious as to why you want 10 or 12" mid drivers in your car? or am I missing something? Anyway, Beymas or EV's it all depends what you want/like and how you use them. My old man a few years ago put 2 12" JBL pro woofers ( used in home audio ) in my car and let me tell you, WOW! 400 watts in ( RF punch mono amp ) and with one kick drum note it felt like someone kicked me in the back. It literally took my breath away. The cone only moved an 1/8 of an inch. They are a 25 year old design and just over 2% effecient
All these "car audio sub-woofers" that are being used today that are super expensive and are barely 1/2 % effecient. checkout www.partsexpress.com or just do a search. There are alot of speakers out there

most of the 6 1/2 cones we use sound loud as hell in the car but outside of the car it's a bit lacking. i want to put 4 10/12" drivers with some tweeters(i've decided on the beyma CP-22) in the back of an RSX. since it opens like a hatch, when i open it, i'll project the sound far off and should be loud enough for the shows here. it'll all be fiberglassed in.

not only that, but i've been in cars that have up to 6 or 8 of them and its just like you said. the kick drum feels like someone punched you in the chest. i just cant get that out of smaller cones.
my plan is using CDT's HD-62 up front, and 4 10 inch in the back facing outwards(when its closed i guess the sound'll project off the rear windsheild and be sent fowards? we'll see
i want it to be loud and clear. it's more for my own enjoyment, as its not JUST for shows. when i go out on weekends sometimes i park the car by the park and drop a few drinks with friends and girls. the idea is to pop the hatch and listen to music from outside. i've tried it before, and with a set of components, all you can really hear is alot of bass and not alot of anything else, no matter how loud it is inside of the car. i dont want it to sound like @!#$ though, or i'd just buy 20 6 inch audiofonics speakers and make a huge sound wall with them. there has to be some quality to the speaker.
anyways, i've decided on beyma's after listening to them both ad the EV's sound great from far away but the closer you get they arent so great anymore(almost distorted). the Beyma's seem to sound great in and out of the car and not a bit of distortion.
when i close the hatch, i want to music to be projected towards me(the driver). how do i aim them? does it have to be straight up?(like a 45 angle?) or point it directly at the winsheild?(like parallel to the winsheild).
well either way you go all the sound will be coming from the rear of the car, i'd just keep them agled backwards if you mostly listen to them outside the car. me personally if i was wanting a setup to run outside the car like this i'd still do a normal system inside the car and just build a switching system to switch from inside auidio to outside audio.

i dont mind some of the music coming from the back. i've always liked being surrounded by my music as opposed to setting up a front stage.
i'm still going to be running 2 sets of CDT or beyma components up front(one set in the door and another in kickpanels).
