but not at idle that just means it might be a very small/stock turbo.

I mean hell I have no restriction in my exhaust at all, you think it'd travel... but I know it's my muffler cause when its off I have the sound...

At first I always that the sound that you are talking about was just mainly from cars running small turbos. I could barely hear the turbine howl on my 2.2 with 3 inch exhaust, no cats, no mufflers with a T3/T4 60 trim. I just assumed that I couldnt hear mine because the turbo was kind of big. But our shop cars have nice size turbos and you can easily hear the turbine howl...

You can hear the howl of one our shop cars....twin turbo 2003 Cobra with two GT35Rs, 3inch downpipes, with the cut-outs open

You can kind of hear the howl/scream of our other shop car... 1999 Cobra with a 88mm turbo and 5 inch exhaust dumped right past the front lower control arm.

A lot of people seem to be confused with the sound of the compressor spooling and the sound of the turbine howl.


Just like QBE, in my car i can hear the compressor spool but not the turbine howl sound. Here a video so you can hear what i'm talking about.

yes I can hear my actual turbo, the problem is the note of my exhaust doesnt sound anything like it being turbo

If a lot of people weren't all about the sound, those turbo sound simulators wouldn't sell so well to the idiot community. It's definitely an appealing sound, but its much more appealing when you're hearing it while sinking firmly into the seat upon massive acceleration.
