I'm nopt dogging the GTO's, I like them. I have a buddy with one running high 10's N/A, and low 10's on spray.

I can tell you my kit has lag. When you stomp on it, it does not get spooling until around 3k.

just wondering...how exactly does a supercharger "start spooling" .. if its driven off the belt wouldnt it be spooling ALL the time?

Re: Continued: Vulcan Turbos MP62 Intake Manifold LD9

mine makes full boost just off idle. if im at a stoplight, just idling, and i floor it, it will immediately jump to full boost.

this is becuase based on the overdrive of your blower, it will always be putting in more air than the engine can take. it will also always be putting in exactly the same percentage more air than the engine can take, becuase as the engine speeds up, the charger speeds up at the exact same rate. and unlike a turbo that can output more cfms exponentially with greater speed, a supercharger outputs the exact same Liters per Rev no matter what speed its moving in a linear fashion.

if you think your supercharger is spooling, then that is a signal something is wrong. For instance, if you have the belt slipping on the pulley due to improper belt wrap / not enough wrap. in this case, the belt could be slipping by the pulley until it heats up enough from the friction to gain traction again. then the boost will come on. Or, another situation could be the chargers output flow is exeeding your engines thru-put at around 3K. at this point, your boost will begin to rise further becuase the restriction is getting greater and greater as the engine speeds up, and so does the chargers output. You might also run into the same symptoms with a restrictive exhaust system or a poorly designed intake manifold. many people install larger exhaust systems, only to find there PSI has dropped. all this is, is the engine accepting more air. lowing your boost means your taking in greater CFM's, and also raising your blowers effeciency.
You could also have a slow reacting bypass valve. or @!#$t, at 3K, your bypass may be just stuck wide open. at 3K its probably overflows the bypass, and then will begin to build boost. There are many possibilies, but the point is, your boost should come ofn0-100% in direct relation to your TPS 0-100%, not anything else.

heres a datalog example...

^^^speaks da tr00f

i have no boost delay in mine, doesnt matter what RPM i go WOT in...hell most of the time i dont have to WOT to see boost...i can launch rolling at 5mhp t 1.5l RPM and i will hit instant boost the minute i go anything more than half throttle...at 50% throttle i'm sitting at 0...anything more and i will be in boost and PE kicks in....

Yes I did get the car back home with me. I managed to tune it just enough to run WOT without going lean and it was fast. The fastest it has ever been. I am seeing about 12psi. The throttle response seems just as quick as the the M45. The only thing I have noticed is that if you go WOT and you suddenly let completly off the gas the car stills pulls for just a half second after. It would make sense that this is because you still have the compressed air in the piping and intercooler. It is not bad though, nothing that would spook you, and not noticeable just cruising.

I have alot of tuning issues to sort out still. My WOT pulls started around 2000rpm and had an AFR of low 10's right up until about 5500. Between about 5500 and 7000 it would gradually lean out to about high 11's. So needless to say with a better tune it is only going to get better.

I will get pictures but to be honest I am embarrased with how my car sits now. I cant remember the last time I saw my engine bay so dirty/dusty as well as a number of things done in haste so I could drive the car home, such as vaccum lines and wires just kind ran whereever it was convienent. I promise the pics a will come soon though.

To me it is filthy and not up to my standards with having vaccum lines strewn all over.

I have not taken any yet or I would post them anyway. I promise I will get some pics up before midnight tonight.

guys.. trust me.

going from a polished blower to this dull ass thing (yes wade this is my attempt at getting you riled up and sending it to stiegmeyer ) and a nice clean setup to this is how can i say this without pissing wade off...

...

just flat out boring? LMAO wade (you know i am going to help)

i have pics on my camera ($5 for anybody who wants to see)

but in all reality guys, its a very nice setup. i was pretty impressed with everything. only thing i do not like is how the tb/intake setup was done. other than that it is top notch.

and trust me.. i drove this thing, it is pretty snappy. lag? wtf? there is no freaking lag. NONE. it is stab the throttle and hold on, believe me.

Looks badass Wade! Cant wait to see you put your personal touch on it and also some numbers from the setup! So Im guessing your alchy isnt hooked up yet, if soo the tb adapter would be the perfect spot for the nozzle.

Yeah you are not the only one to say that. I am kind of iffy on it myself. The only thing I am sure of it that I don't want that metal tube or to run the rubber hose under all the wires. This way is convienent but it is lacking in astetics.

I sure did. I have no problems finding black 90 degree elbows but can't find black T connectors to save my life.

Why not on either of those? I think they would be better than current. Still engine bay looks great!
