wADE- I understand the GM kit supercharger has the manifold built in with the charger...excuse me for not including the P. And I also understand the M90 does not which is why I did not buy it from the JY.
Jn2- You are correct on the cylinder temps with higher chance of knock which is which is what Im extremely worried about. With all the work to set up the MP62 setup maybe a turbo fabrication should be at hand
GMR has got nothing on this
U could do a intercooler genIII m90 from the seriesII 3800...have Vulcan make a set up like the m62 mani but non intercooler version. Than instead of a m62 flange. Use zzp's m90 intercooler which just so happens too, in this case work as a ic and a m90 flange

of course us have to do some measuring to make sure it lines up right. There's mire to it. But u get the idea behind the intercooler manifold :p
where the hell is clyde when we need him?
he ran DOMED pistons in his LD9 with the m45 and it ran beautifully. so ive heard... (from him)
you'll be fine, man. just do it. we need more people on here willing to try new things. otherwise how the hell are we ever going to get anywhere?
first thing though... id like to see you DYNO TUNE that car the way it sits. i bet you'd be surprised at how much power it puts down just n/a.

I must confess... I feel like a monster!
M90 is a little much for a 2.4 with that high of compression its a BIG charger and you wont need it as you will never need that much air in that engine
with that amount of compression an M62 is probably too big aswell
if you had a stock 2.4 i would say do the M62 with the custom manifold but since you have 12:1 the M45 will work just fine
PROVIDING you get a colder thermostat 160 or 180, colder plugs, 2.5" exhaust with a header, wheel well mounted intake all these things will help with the knocks the exhaust upgrade will get the exhaust out to prevent the heat the stat will prevent the engine from getting to hot then i WOULD run Meth on it that would be the best to lower the knocks i have 10* knock retard at 6000rpm with my car this winter that will be solved with a new tune for my pully and my meth kit.
oh and getting a nice tune on there will make sure everything runs effciently
JBO since July 30, 2001
Seeing first hand what Clyde (mitdr774) did with high compression, and if I'm not mistaken some w41cams and ported head, and a 2.4" pulley, yes 2.4". He put down 23x or something hp and ran 14's. So I say the M62 all the way, the M45 will be a bottle neck and restrict power. The M62 with a Vulcan Manifold and phenolic spacer made to fit the 2.3 head, larger primary header, 3" exhaust, do it right!
Stand alone - M62- intercooled - oversized pulley
DOOOO EEEEIIIITTTT

Well Brad yes I still will Dyno Tune this N/A Hybrid once I get the funds to do so.
This upgrade was something I want to do due to the weight of the Alero compared to a jbody. If I had a jbody I would'nt worry about it and just continue all N/A.
Reason I want to get the MP62 is so I can run an intercooler. Heck ION ran the MP45 and had issues with his temps so he went turbo. I have a bigger build than him so im worried mine will be worse with knock.
I have a friend selling his MP62 off his Cobalt SS...is 800 a good deal? Includes manifold, charger, stock pulley, and injectors.
Thanks guys keep this info coming....Im new to boost so Im learning!
GMR has got nothing on this
honestly no.. you cannot use the manifold off that setup so why pay for it?
you can find good used m62's on ebay or on cobaltss.net quite easily. and they go for pretty cheap, i think ive seen one as low as $200 before.

I must confess... I feel like a monster!
800 is not a good deal for you since the only part you can use is the supercharger. Just the fact that you even have to ask that tells me you dont know what you are getting into here.

FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Next year I'm planning to build a higher compression LD9 for my M45. Somewhere around 11:1. I would love one day to build a 12:1 turbo motor. People have been running higher compression and boost for a long time. Tuning is the key.

wow you boys have are thinking what im thinking!
mitdr774 would be proud.

I must confess... I feel like a monster!
the headaches of a turbo just doesnt seem worth it for only 5 lds of boost. lower the compression and go crazy....

who said 5psi on high compression? I'm talling 15psi and high compression!
