Wideband O2 sensor placement
Thursday, December 01, 2011 6:21 PM
I am going to be installing my Innovate wideband one of these days.

But im going to be installing it into the OEM downpipe for the time being, so I have to drill a hole and weld a bung on there for it.

What kind of placement am I supposed to have on it? Ive read that it has to be above parallel and the distance im not sure.

Anyone care to share?

You want the sensor slightly higher than parallel so condensation stays out of the sensor. As far as distance what does your instructions say?

Anywhere between the 10 and 2 pm position but preferably at the 10 OR 2 position. If you are Turbo charged you will want to be 18-24" downstream pre-cat. About twice the distance if not slightly more than the factory position otherwise it will interfere with the readings. N/A or supercharged can be much closer. For instance in the collector or just past it.

Guess ill be putting it at the start of the downpipe. Ill review the instructions when I get the box in front of me. Its currently at my parents.

Guess im going to have to pull the downpipe off to do this...yuck.

Innovate lists all of their user manuals in PDF on their website under the "support" tab in case you want to start reading up on it now. I am not sure which system you bought otherwise I would link it to you.

We at NGK reccommend 10 degrees and 18 inches from outlet of turbo or collector.
