Nice build vinny. I wonder if Ryan at RD Fabs would consider building another 2.2 OHV manifold. I'm in the process of securing a turbo and manifold, but i'd like to keep my AC and stock radiator for the time being. I'll have to contact them and see if that would be possible.

Im sure Ryan could work something out for you. I decided to go with an upswept manifold, alittle different apparently. Removing the AC was not a problem for me, and Ryan knew that. Since the AC is being removed, I can mount the radiator forward more to make up for some extra room. I will be running a Griffin radiator also. Im sure Ryan can do a log manifold of tubular to satisfy your needs, and he is a great guy to deal with.

I like the first bumper with the grille. I'd like a 2200 manifold that keeps the A/C...

Im still debating it because i was able to mock up charge pipes to the throttle body. The piping will stick out of the side grilles on the stock bumper, so they will have to be cut out no matter what. I like the look of the stock bumpers, either the 02 ls with the lip, or i was debating about swapping to the 03-05 lss, or a completely aftermarket one all together depending on how it turns out. If i went aftermarket, the TRD or Import Fighter would be the winner.

Where are you getting charge pipes, out of curiosity? I'm trying to put together my parts list for my 2.2 OHV turbo build.

I actually got a universal kit from ebay for 100 bucks if i remember correctly. After some cutting and trimming i was able to run the cold side without any problems.

Yah, I was thinking the same thing. How are you mounting the BOV? gonna have someone weld on an adapter?

No, I have the HKS SSQV and i bought the adapter pipe, it was $25. Its a 6 inch section of pipe with the flange already welded on. It actually fits perfectly in the fender well, where the air filter goes for ac old air intake. Should be nice and loud lol.

That's funny, I was just listening to videos of the HKS SSQV on youtube last night. That's been the BOV I've been planning to use for about 4 years now. Maybe I'll finally get a turbo this year. Where'd you find the adapter pipe from? that's a good price, $25.

Got mine on ebay, price depends on the size piping you chose. I went with 2.5. Heres the link for one on ebay right now, $25 with free shipping.

Got the AEM wideband yesterday. Next on the list is the LSD Carrier (not the insert), HP Tuners, 3in Exhaust, and a Profec B, then its machine work time. Coming down to the wire. Head should be getting finished soon too as well.

Hey Vinny,

Not sure if you are in need of brakes but... I've got an O.E.M. Big brake kit for sale...

The kit consists of

13" Power Slot rotors (drilled, Cobalt SS Model)
99' Camaro SS Calipers (black)
Hawk Pads (slightly used but in great shape)
Brand new braided stainless brake lines
and mounting hardware

Asking $300 plus shipping

I went with Wilwoods prior to installing these...

At the moment i do not need brakes. However i was going to look into the Wilwoods after the motor was done as i would like to upgrade the front brakes. Thank you for the offer thou.

Wish I was in the market for brakes too. That's a good deal. but I need to save money to catch up to vinny here. he's already got the manifold and turbo.... I've got neither...

Re: Boosted 2200 Build

It takes time and money, its very hard to have both together lol. And the worst part is, there is always something else that can be done.

My next question is, i had my turbo mocked up today and was thinking of making a heat shield, but it just looks too tight with the wastegate and dump. Does anyone run a shield or blanket even, and if not, does the heat cause a problem at all. I was also thinking of running a carbon evo hood, specially because the grilles are right over the turbo and should help with cooling. Im hoping to order something big next week, got 4 things left on my list before machine work so its gonna be the lsd, hp tuners, full exhaust, or profec b and turbo timer. Ill keep the updates coming

I'm planning on getting my turbine side Jet Hot coated with their 2000 coating. I'd be a little concerned using that hood, if large amounts of water could make it through the hood and hit the super hot turbine. It may crack from the sudden temperature change.

Re: Boosted 2200 Build

This is true, i was thinking about sending mine out to be coated as well. The hood was an idea that might happen down the road after the motor is done. I just want boost already, im sick of looking at all these parts lol.

Was doing some research today on injectors. Seems like alot of people are running the Ford Red Tops for boost. I hear you have to solder the clips on, can anyone elaborate on this. I hear these are only good to 10psi max. I was thinking about running these while i get the motor used to boost, and then running like 550cc or 650cc with a rich tune when i up the boost to 15psi or so. Id love some RC Engineering injectors, just have to do some more research on them.

I also was looking at exhausts, I know my downpipe is only 2.5inch, but i wanted to run 3in from there back. I was planning on running a Vibrant Streetpower muffler, but i found out i have the option of running a vibrant, magnaflow or borla muffler instead. What are your guys thoughts on these mufflers with boost?

I run 650cc RC Injectors and a Vibrant 3" muffler, but I also run 3" down pipe all the way back to the exhaust. so 3" from turbo back

Thanks Josh, how do you like the Vibrant muffler? I originally was going to go with them. How does it sound with the turbo. Ive never heard a vibrant muffler on a turbo car, only NA. I guess i will look into the 650cc injectors. Do you happen to have the part number for them?

First bumper as is. Cutting the center out looks horrible. Just my opinion.

I finally got a front lip, decided to go with the Taurus lip idea, so once its mounted ill snap some pictures and see how it looks. I also purchased a Greddy Profec B today and will try and find a good spot for it once it arrives. Have a few spots in mind, but wont be sure until i have it

profec? already? Come on, get that turbo in there. You don't need a boost controller, lol. Just set that wastegate and go! just kidding. So, what else remains before this thing runs?

Re: Boosted 2200 Build

Still want the LSD HPT and the exhaust, then sending the block out for machine work. Everything else is little stuff, radiator, injectors and then misc lines n hoses. Pretty much have everything at the moment. Once those three parts are in my hands then it will get exciting. I use the car everyday so i want to get most of it done before swapping. Would like to have the motor running and tuned before its in the car, but ill have to see how things go.
