Stage2 setup on stock 2.2 ECOTEC
Tuesday, January 03, 2012 4:43 PM
I just purchased a complete m62 setup from a Cobalt SS for my 02 Cavalier. It has the Stage 2 upgrade. Could I use the GMPP Flash? Or do I have to use the Stage 2 flash. I have a dealer that will flash my ecu with the stock flash. I may have a problem getting a Stage 2 flash. Thanks!

There isn't a stage 2 flash for the jbody ecm.

Your going to have to use the gm reflash as the cobalt ecu won't do diddly on our cars.

what would happen if I used to reflash with the stage 2 parts? . Will it be too much fuel???

The reflash is designed to run the stock LSJ green top injectors(36#) and will not work with the stage 2(42#) injectors. I forget what size the stage 2 pulley is, but anything smaller than a 3.0" pulley is too much for the reflash. Even with a 3.0" pulley the fueling can get sketchy in the nigher RPMs. Your best bet is to sell the pulley/injectors and pick up a 3.1" pulley and stock LSJ injectors.

OR

Find someone with HPTuners to do a custom tune on your stock ECU so you can use the stage 2 pulley/injectors.

You need a custom tune to run stage 2 on the j-body. Period.

I say put the pulley on, get a AFPR, bump static fuel pressure to 65 and have fun. that is currently what i am setup like.

I have a 3 inch pulley, and the 36 lb/hr injectors. I run hi IDC's, but other then that the car runs fine.

I would use HP Tuners or have someone tune it for you.
