man Adler, that setup is hot, looks super clean and nice valvecover, is that powder coated or paint? what kind of numbers does your car lay down with that setup? seeing as i'm wanting to turbo my car hopefully by next spring, also i see that your turbine is mounted on the alternator side of the engine, and it appears as though your dipstick is sandwhiched between the turbine and compressor housings, have you had any issues with heat on plug wires, the alternator or the dipstick housing? anything going out faster than usual or melting, also how does your engine seem to do with that setup? looks great man, post more pics lol i need somethin new to dream about

Thanks J~. The valve cover is powder coated. I am thinking about getting another one poweder coated with some kind of designs in silver & red. Back in August, the car put down 211hp / 233hp at about 10psi with the car running hot.

I had to bend the dipstick tube back to clear the center section of the turbo.
I am on the 3rd altenator since the car has been turboed. The downpipe sits about 2 inches away from from altenator. The first time the altenator starting loosing voltage was when I was racing a car on the highway. The other time the altenator started loosing voltage was about 2 months later when I was on a 50 mile cruise with a bunch of Mustangs.....so yea, I was hauling azz on the highway that time also.

No problems with the plug wires, yet.

adler, that setup just looks better everytime i see it, so i see your running an external wastegate, bet your state loves that on inspection day lol, great lookin car, have you tried sheilding the alternator or the turbine housing? i've seen a few creative sheilds made from polished aluminum and stainless sheets, i would figure some heat wrap or a sheild around the alternator would help out at least alittle, thats crazy to have to keep replacing alternators all the time, not a bad trade off though .

adler i know you said you were running a turbo with .48 ar turbine side but what are you running a/r wise on the hot side (compressor)???

J~,
My car will pass emissions & inspection even though I have a wastegate dump, no cat, no muffler, the occasional check engine light, and blowing out black smoke at idle.......
I do have the downpipe ceramic coated & wrapped, and the turbine housing is also coated, but apparenty that is not enough. The altenator isnt hard too change, I could probably swap the altenator on a 2.2 in about 10mins now .
I am not going to worry about sheilding the turbine housing until the 1 year warrenty runs out on the altenator. When I do it, i am going to buy one of those turbine housing blankets. I would think that would be better than just a sheild cover the housing.

Adler could you explain a little how you had to modify the mani to get the super 60 to fit?

I am not running a T3 Super 60. I have a T3/T4 60 trim......turbine housing is a T3, and compressor housing is a T4 60trim.
To mod the header, Mike K. had to weld a T3 flange on top of the existing T3 flange on the header. So basically, I have two T3 flanges to raise the turbo up away from the header to prevent the compressor housing from laying on top / hitting the #4 header primary.

I am not 100% sure, but I think that Cav Connection built the header while using a T3 Super 60. So if you have a Super 60, you shouldnt have any problems.

Also had to modify the header to fit the 3 inch downpipe in there. I think that they made the header by using either 2.25 or 2.5 inch exhaust.

Actually they built it using 2" exhaust, I got the POS downpipe sitting here, if anyone wants to buy it

And Adler is right, the header was built using a T3 Super60 so you won't need to modify it.

hey adler is there a big difference in power between the header and the manifold? and if so what do u think the power gain is. Also i have a 3spd auto so do u think a 60 trim would be ok or should i go with a 50 trim so it spools earlier?
Re: 2.2 2200 Turbo Engine Picture Request

how much power do u want to end up with? from what i understand if you are looking for power around the 200-250 range then the 50 trim would be fine. one thing that is better about the header is quicker spool up time.

matt, i would like to get more if possible. if i could hit 300 i would be extatic. if i get 250 i would be very happy and 200 i would be content. Basically im just trying to get the most amount of power out of my 2200, so i think the bigger trim would be better.

same here
im pretty sure the 50 trim will get you to 300 but i would go with a super 60 if your goen for that kind of power or just upgrade the turbo later.

There SHOULD be a difference in power gain between a log and header manifold. I cant really tell you the difference in power between the two since no one that I know has dynoed the before and after power gains by switching manifolds.
You should be fine with a T3/T4 50 trim compressor and a .48 a/r turbine side. That turbo should be able to put out over 300hp on a 2.2. By going off of a compressor map, the T3 Super 60 will be able to put out right up to 300hp before it becomes inefficient.
