Here's my little taste of ghetto.
We cut the top of the filler and added a dipstick to the side. mocked up the oil return line and welded a second piece.
I obviously found another way to put oil in the engine. (via the valve cover) Otherwise it'd take 20+ minutes to pour it through that small dipstick tube

ha thats crazy but smart. mad props

Hey JTR, I see you have the same engine as mine. As I see the picture of your setup, did you have to re-route the brass radiator line in front of the manifold? And where did you get the manifold?
No I did not rerout the radiator line, i thought i was going to have to but it all cleared. its an Exploited Racing manifold.

Hmm heres the problem though with taping the block if I screw up once then what. also does any one have a pic of a taped eco or at least where I could get some instructions.
"
Kick azz is my boost hero!!! "
on the eco i would use the stock location that is in the main girdle
the 2.4 you gotta do the oil pan
the 2.2 is the most simple and easy to do , because of the size of the dip stick tube
stevefire , yours looks pretty cool custom job , i know a friend of mine was having alot of problems with his tube , and i like your set up ill have to show it to him
stevefire23 -- where did u get the new dip stick? by the way i think that looks cleaner! good job.
<img src="http://registry.gmenthusiast.com/images/h8hondaz/sig.jpg">
honestly?
no idea...
Im sure you could take a trip down to the local wreckers and find something similar though
thing is before you hack your stock filler up... be sure to top up your oil level and check it with the stocker. Then once you have everything together you can dip the new one in and see where its at. Scribe a line across, and that is your new fill line.

good idea! yea i think this weekend ill be goen to the yard to get my self a spare tube and stick. also with a turbo do u put more oil in the engine?
<img src="http://registry.gmenthusiast.com/images/h8hondaz/sig.jpg">
I dont see why you would have to.
Unless you want to compensate for the very small amount in your oil feed line.
Do you have a 2.2? If you do I have a part number for a larger oil filter from AC Delco.
Its always nice to be able to carry extra oil via the filter.
<a href="http/www.cardomain.com/id/stevefire23">stevefire23</a>
yea i have a 2200
<img src="http://registry.gmenthusiast.com/images/h8hondaz/sig.jpg">
ok so all summed up if i have a 2200 i have to build a dipstick out of the way of the manifold and put the oil return line into the dipstick? does the feed line still tap into the pan?

Feed line needs pressure...there is no pressure in the oil pan
It's just now cutting it's teeth.

Where should it go? I though it did go in the block, but I wasn't sure.
for the 2200's/2.2's there is a very nice 1/4 NPT plug on the back of the block above the oil filter. (actually if you put a 1/4" extension into the square hole on the plug it works beautifully) Its a plug to the camshaft oil passage. (or roughly there abouts)
You will need a 1/4" NPT fitting from the block to whatever sort of line you are using.
when I did mine I was worried about oil pouring out, but I had no problems whatsoever.
I let the engine sit for a few minutes to have the oil drain back down into the pan, and went from there.
SooOoOoOO easy, its not even funny.

Will this work for the older 2.2's as well?
When in doupt, grub.
well i forgot all about this thread during my install so im not posting pics lets just say my dipstick had a tragic very tragic accident with a bench vice and my muscles i will construct a new one when i get some time
"dude, thats a girls car"
NOT ANY MORE!!! PSHHHTTT!!!!

There's got to be something else for the 2.2 guys, since I don't know the 2.2 very well, why can't you tap the pan?
When the turbo's mounted below the exhaust manifold, the pan's the only option.

hey joe do you ever have problems with the starter over heating with the turbo sitting that close to it?
Me??
No starter problems here. I thought I might, but it's been fine. That setup's been on a nonstop trip of about 1900 miles (and then back) without problems.
If it fails then I'll look at using a starter from a 1998 2200. I've heard they're smaller.

OMFG so I don't need to get a whole oilpan from the wreckers. 2200 FTW! I took an intake off a 97 2200 and it was a 2 tap tee so you can have your oil pressure gauge and have your oil feed line... and the return line i was knocking my head over it and i didn't even realize X_X
I want to cut my dipstick down and out of sight, so when I goto a gas station and if they ask if they can check my oil... and they cant find it. lol
hah I was reading my old post. im such a newb

Hahahahahahahahahahah SOOOOOOO TRUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here.... 2200 tapped pan..... took 15 minutes... on a hoist....... heheh
This was "retapping the pan" to a larger size to facilitate a larger oil return line from the turbo.
LOOK RIGHT BESIDE THE DOWNPIPE FOR THE OIL RETURN LINE........ 1 1/2" clearance of the downpipe.....
There you go.... nothing ghetto about that.......
