my dad sent me on a mission to wake up his s/c impala
i know some that have put 3800s in their cavys have changed the pulley to one of of the 3.4 super. is it that much different. dad wants more boost, something that could be done quick while mom is out of the house. thought that changing the would over drive the super, making more boost any imput would help.

3800 is an M62 stock. Yes you can use them.

3800 is NOT an m62, i believe the OLDER 3800's used the 62, the newer ones use the 90.

Chill Viper. My comment still stands, as does yours. We're both right.

The M62 is on the 3800 up to 2003. 2004 up has the M90.

When I said, "Yes you can use them" I was refering to pulleys off of the M62.

From what I gather on PFYC now, the Pulleyboys qwikchange system (which I have in my possesion) states that it "Also fits 2004+ Grand Prixs, 2004 Monte Carlo SS and 2004 Impala SS." From this, I gather they're all interchangable.

Actually all of the 97+ GTP's have had the Eaton Magnuson M90 Superchargers.

My bad. You're right. To add insult to injury, I'm coming up with an M90 also being on the 96 bonnie SSEi.

ok so will this SC pulley work? I found it on Ebay Ebay Pulley

the add is for Eaton Supercharger pulleys for the Cobra, Lightning, and Harley models. They say they have a 2.7 inch pulley. I emailed the guy and he said this

"If the snout you have uses a .780 inch diameter non-keyed shaft, the pulley should fit."

What is the diameter of the stock shaft on the M45?

on a stock 3800 motor...I wouldn't run anything smaller than a 3.4".....or even a 3.5" pulley. You'll see ALOT of knock retard with anything smaller than that....and you might even have some with a 3.4" puley. You ned other mods to go along with it.

check out clubGP for better info on this.

I don't know about the pulley on your father's car but the one I got from PFYC has 6 ribs. The one in the auction you linked has either 9 or 10 ribs from what I can see.

what he is is right... if you want to go to somthing like a 3.5" pulley on a 3800 engine you need either the intercooler plate or an Alcohol injection kit.

lol...no you don't. Maybe for a 3.0" pulley. For a 3.4" pulley (although it differs from car to car)....it is a good idea to have intake/u-bend delete/1808 t-stat...and possibly DHP/ZZp computer. Some guys even run them with just intake. 3.5" you can probably run stock...but you *might* see a little KR.
