2.2 Ecotec supercharger?
Friday, January 28, 2005 11:03 PM
I have heard numerous rumors that there is a possiblity of the 2.2 ecotec supercharger being released the first quarter of 2005, does anybody think that this is possible or just more rumors? I would love to be able to get this for my car since possibly there would be no void in warranty if installed by a delership and the reliabilty that you would have from it.

well considering the cobalt SS is a supercharged ecotec....it wouldn't surprise me if GM made a supercharger for an ecotec
I was just trying to share some news that I had searched around and found on the Gm performance parts website....I was just wondering if this was more rumors or not. Yes I have been following the posts, though before I was not to concered because I had a vehcile with the 2200 in it and just a couple weeks ago I picked up a 2005 Cavalier LS Sport and I was just more curious about the charger.

I'm gonna wait until early to mid MArch and if GM doesn't release it, I'm just gonna get RSM's kit. I'm tired of waiting.
Well I do hear the 2.0 supercharger does hook up to our block, but it seems like it could be quite a bit of trouble doing so and hard finding the supercharger. Though since there are so many vehicles out there with the 2.2 ecotec it looks like they could make one for the engine. I mean look at the pontiac vibe it has a supercharger now that is crazy.

If your gonna get the rsm blower get it now. Its 15 percent off and they throw in the 62mm throttle body in w/it wich was dynoed at 9-10 hp at the wheels on an N/A engine. I'm ordering mine tuesday.
They also said they carry 4/5 in stock at all times now. And it comes with ecu tuning. I'm sold.
It's just now cutting it's teeth.

I got fed up with waiting and went with the RSM stage one kit on my 2004 SF.I have been told GM will bring out the Eaton m62 but not until Cobalt SS has been a success in the market place. I think that may or may not be true.I know that right now you can buy the RSM supercharger it is a complete bolt on kit.Nothing else to buy.Plus the stuff you get is first class all the way.Craig Lewis and Bobbie are great to deal with. And the GM unit will give you 40 HP the RSM stage one is rated at 60 HP stage two is 80 HP.Hope this helps you.

I just checked RSM,s web page and my catalogue from them for the Ecotec. Adding the 62mm Tb from RSM will give you 10+ hp over stock. You may be thinking about the 2.4 the intake manifold and Tb package is needed to get the most from the larger Tb.The stock intake on the Ecotec will support up to 500 hp stock according to GM.

despite what rsm's website says, the throttle body and intake combo TOGETHER will give you 10 hp.
