Shifting Problem with Boost?!
Thursday, March 31, 2005 7:59 PM
Hey guys,

I had a quick question. Every now and then when I floor it in my car and it gets to right around 70 mph, it won't change over to the next gear. It just stays in that gear ...and won't go anywhere even though I'm flooring it. I end up having to let off the gas, floor it again, and then it goes. What could be the problem? I noticed there's a small kink in my vacuum hose...could this be why? Perhaps the kink is causing it so that the blow off valve isn't blowing out all of the pressure?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

any kink in a vacumm line is bad, fix that ad give it another try. Where does the vacumm line go to?

they are both sealed vacumm units, that shouldn't be a problem.

Nope, they're on seperate lines. I just got it fixed! It was the kink in the hose that was causing the problem. Sounds and runs great now.

Thanks guys.

With my 2.4 auto I have always had something similar to this happen. After a certain point (somewhere above 70), flooring it doesn't result in a downshift. If you let the car fall below this "threshold", the downshift will happen and acceleration will increase. It could just be the magic point where the car decides not to downshift, or is it something else?
