PCV Baffle ? from GM S/C kit...
Thursday, April 07, 2005 9:23 AM
This kills me every time I think about it. I got the s/c from a guy off the .org, but I didn't get the instructions for the kit until yesterday (Thanks Bobby) To make a long story short, I have two problems. 1. I never got the PCV Baffle from the guy and I now know that the kit came with a new one. I'm assuming that the new baffle was given b/c the old baffle was too large and the s/c wouldn't be able to fit. So, is it possible to use the old baffle for a an outline and cut a flat plate to fit. Of course I would add two ports for the plumbing, but does it matter if the baffle is cupped shape or not? 2. I just want to make sure, but the s/c kit doesn't come with a new EVAP purge solenoid...Right? The old one gets installed on the new idler pulley bracket. (which is another part I don't have, but I think that with a little help from my neighbor and Home Depot, I might be able to fix) Since I don't know what the idler pulley bracket looks like, maybe someone can somewhat describe it, or have a picture of it would help me out a lot. Thanks for your time.

Turbos are nice, but I would rather be blowed...

the stock baffle is plastic , so there is no modifying it

there should be a parts list with the instructions , so go through that

I know that it's plastic. I was just wondering if a can cut a flat piece of metal in the same shape as the PCV Baffle, and just weld in two ports for the plumbing. As a side question, is it possible to order replacement parts (i.e. the baffle) on the s/c kit. I didn't think it was possible, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

OUCH...those prices are nuts. I have a hard time believing a metal bracket and a plastic molding can cost $130 and $250 respectively. Basic economics I guess. There's a demand, let's exploit the s#!t out of it. What's another $500 anyway? You can bet I'll talk to you later Bobby, and thanks for everything.

One last question. For the brake booster tube, could I cut the tube before it wraps around the engine and just run a regular vacuum hose to the throttle body, or does the tube have to be metal all the way up to the elbow into the throttle body?

why in the world would you cut that , that would be absoloutely pointless, i would just leave it as is, it bolts right where the dipstick bolts on, i would think having a longer hose might cause some type of problem, if not why would they have gone to the extra trouble of making the metal tube longer when it porally would have been cheaper to use some type of standard hose?

bryan , i think he is asking about cutting the metal tube around where it bends to head to the stock tb position on the stock intake

which is something alot of the guys that use the 2.3 HO intkae do

you should be able to cut the pipe with no problem , but MAKE SURE you use a hose that made for the booster line , its a heavier hose that the other hose
