So i been having recent problems with my turbo set up.. occasionally i will have smoke come out my tail pipe . black smoke,,, i know its from my turbo since when i dont have the setup it doesn not smoke.. could it be my oil lines? or maybe my turbo needs a rebuild like a bad seal?

also the car seems to stall like it getts to rich or lean .. not sure which one, sometimes i floor it and and like stalls out like its ont getting enough gas maybe it could be i need injectors..

this is my setup
t/3 t/4 turbo
ugraded fuel managment
no injectors
5 psi and the other basics.
stock engine

any help would be great

Black smoke is fuel. What fuel mangement do you have?

i have a vortech fuel managament unit. and a upgraded fuel pump not sure what brand.. could possibly be stock , but i doubt that... does it mean the car may not be getting enough fuel or i might need a new system..

it sounds to me like you are running too rich... almost like you have the FMU adjusted too rich from the start and then once your vacuum is gone.... the FMU increases the amount of fuel pressure which increases the amount of fuel to your motor at whatever ratio it is supposed to increase... like 12:1 or 10:1.... Do you have a fuel gauge hooked up to your FMU to see what your fuel pressure is at while idling....?? also when exactly is it smoking? idle? boost? WOT? and when exactly does it die... be more specific plz

since hahn uses a similar setup as you... i would talk to them and see what they say...

Black smoke is fuel(usually rich condition)... Blue smoke means you are burning oil... White smoke means that there is water/coolant in your combustion chamber/cylinders...

...I am the BEST at what I do...

sorry about the late reply.... well i didnt set up the fmu the previous owner had already set it up. usually it will do it when i boost,... i run the car then i sit at a light and idle and the smoke appears,, pretty hefty to. so pretty much it does it at idle..

i once let my brother go get it checked and he said the mechanic said that the turbo needed a new seal? not sure if that even has much to do with it.

but on the lighter side of things i just got my manifold re screwed.. guess my car lost its bolts to the turbo mani somehow???
