found something intresting.

I'm building my motor now. But I want to go turbo later. So i figured is start sourcing parts for it. So i found this guy http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/pts/2865287014.html for those that know about the saab turbo what psi are people tuning them at and is it worth the cash? I'm a newbie at this and used to seeing the usual snail turbos. Is everything there that I need from the saab? Should I go with a bigger one like this? http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/pts/2948563385.html or http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/pts/2875866126.html I'm just browsing in my spare time so no rush in getting a turbo atm but just curiosity as to what i should be looking for.

Yes, couple people have. IMO not worth it. Want big numbers? Go turbo. Want something just fun to cruise around in and less custom parts? Go with the charger kit.

I have tuned a couple twincharged cavy's. One was a LD9 and one was a Eco.

The LD9 was useless between 1-3 gears. That was on a tune that had lots of timing pulled because of heat.

the Eco was not as bad, but made more power. Still lots of heat. The same car is now turbo only and soo much funnier to drive.

Twincharged is good for show, but not for good useable power.

989 is not a Warren Mi area code. Not saying the person didnt move down this way, but just be cautious.

then they needed to set the car up to hook and get some good tires. dumping the clutch on street tires with stock suspension aint gonna cut it.

(now, fire back with the it had 32" slicks, he feathered the clutch, and it had a solid springless suspension in the back like i know you will, john. ) (yes, that was sarcasm)

yea screw the idea of twincharging. too much heat now that i thought about it. i mean you cant really cool the air of a supercharger as it is.. now im just up in the air about what size turbo... im new to the turbo game. i know very minimal basics (how they work) i know it kinda goes of flang types. i want big, but not stupid. its going to be air to water cooled. added ice at the track. its going to be daily driven on a electronic boost controller. and upped while having fun at milan drag strip so any ideas on what kinda turbo i should be looking for?

Whats your power goal? If your going to be on a stock LD9 I'd vote for T3 super 60, it would be plenty fast with a good tune and not crazy big where it took forever to build boost.

Well I'm getting eagle rods and wiseco 9:1 .020 over. I might try p&p an old head I have. Doubt it will work out. But yea before the turbo I'm going to get 1mm oversized valves. I don't mind spool time. But I don't want it to take FOREVER. enough to have fun with the mustangs, comaros and civics around here. Not trying to waste em but have fun. I'm gonna do the 2.3 intake manifold and still browsing for an exhaust going to try for an equal length header. As far as power goal, I basically want to push the car to a safe limit. So what? 200hp? (Advice on what i can get out of it?)
