gm s/c laggy or something
Thursday, April 07, 2005 12:15 PM
well, i got to thinking, and my car seemed faster when i first put the kit on. now it seems slower. hence my 15.9 1/4 time, but some of that was b/c of traction issues. for example. im on the highway going about 65 and i step on the gas in 5th, and it goes, but then gets a boost of power from somewhere after about 2 secs of full throttle. could one of my sensor be going bad or something and it just takes awhile for it to read? or could it be something else. thanks

why the hell would you be trying to go fast in 5th gear?? you need to down shift man if you wanna see anypower, your completly out of the band in 5th @ 65, 4th gear goes up to like 115 ....

Fuel filter? My buddies Probe GT did that and it had a clogged Fuel Filter.

It could be a fuel filter or the pump. You have been pushing it I'm sure. I still want to ride....

If I spent all that money on a SC and was running 15.9 in the qtr, I'd probably torch the car.. :/

yeah you should be running a atleast and im mean at very least a second faster then that.... go get it checked out might be something wrong with the reflash if they even did it at all...

Wow guys. Come on! State the potentially obvious problem. I'm going out on a limb to say I think it's your clutch. A 15.9 is horrid and can only be explained by a clutch if everything else on the car is working properly.

Yea your clutch (if stock) could be Slipping like mad. And if your like every one else when they got their S/C on they "tested" it out

to see if your clutch is slipping, pay attention to the tach and speedo.... go like 50mph in 4th gear, then punch the gas and see if the tach climbs without the speedo climbing... if it does, its the clutch goin to crap.

that usually works.. but it depends on how far gone the clutch is.

I'm thinking something else tho, a slipping clutch is hard to ignore especially when its bad

cant be, i just replaced it with a spec stage II so thats not it. i know it has to be the track cause i can keep up with an evo through 3rd gear on the street so. something was either wrong at the track and i didnt notice it or something just happened to my car that i cant notice. im replacing the fuel filter this weekend so ill see what happens.

well you would go to another dealership and ask them to scan your car and see what program your ecu is running

My car also seems to be very laggy lately. i ran a 15.2 at the track last year. over the winter i installed the secret cams and put on the the 2.7 pulley. I only ran a 15.1. i felt like torching the car as mentioned above but i have to run it when i am not sitting in the staging lanes for 45 mins to an hour before a run. i didnt have the car running but they banned ice bags in the staging lanes so it pulls all the heat off the block and the supercharger heats up. I think it can run better but i am still not happy with the times. maybe i just need to to a tune up on it. It does seem to run faster on the street though.

Sorry to hear about this Mat, I hope it is just something as simple as the fuel filter.

ok, got it replaced. it was dirty, and i mean dirty. put in just a napa one, and it seems to have solved the problem for the most part. it solved my 'blip the throttle and almost die then catch itself' problem, so im hoping that it did more than just that. seems to be more responsive now also. i will let you guys know the next time i go to the track. so till then......

If you didn't have the reflash, your engine would be destroyed by now.

Reflash is all or nothing, they replace everything on the ecu with new software, even if it didn't get updated, just because its easier that way.

Yeah my car is slow. i will change the fuel filter this weekend and see if it fixes it. It hasnt been changed for 40,000 so i think it is in need anyway. Hopefully something this cheap will help my slow car go alittle faster.

heh heh, i just went out and it def fixed my problem. jumped on the freeway and put it up to 100 easily. was going on the onramp at about 30 in 2nd, then punched it and it is def quicker now, like it was when i first got it put on. this weekend i will post my slips if i go, and i cant see why i wont go.
