the geo storm 1st gear is 3.73 not 3.27, and i am 100% sure on this as i have both trannies apart right now. the storm gsi 1st is 3.91.

Well this really blows. I counted and divided this morning. The Geo gearset I have has a 3.91 first... the same as my stock 2.2 tranny ! grrrrrrr

So does this mean that there are geo SOHC's out there with the 3.91 1st? Or could the tranny possibly have come from a DOHC GSI?
I donno. I asked for a 91 SOHC tranny when I called. The tag on it when i got it was SOHC. So either it was marked wrong at the junkyard or there are some with different gears (highly inlikely).
Tonite I figure out the rest of hte gearing to see if it truly is the DOHC or Impulse trans.
I wonder if anyone knows how to tell for sure from the Mfg's tag on the trans. All those numbers must mean something.

Ok I did some more counting last night.
The SOHC trans I have has the 3.909 1st gear BUT it has the 3.83 FDR, not 4.11!!!!
So, they must have mixed things up now and then....
Now I need yet another trans..... damn illusive 1st gear!
