OK...Stage 2 or 3 cpec clutch

OK. Seems the only place to find a performance clutch is at carcustoms.net. They are alot more pricey than I was expecting, so at that, the stage 2 and stage 3 are the same price. If it is going into my daily driver and I have alot of highway miles as opposed to city miles, which makes more sense for me to get?

I have headers, hi flo cat, glass pack, and cool air intake. I want performance because I take it to the local dragstrip to get out frustration, and want to make sure if I am spending $414.00 on a clutch, it lasts as long as possible. The stage 2 is kevlar, so at least I wouldn't have to be worried about it being taken out by gunfire, the stage 3 is carbon, or ceramic, I don't know if that's a choice or if its a mixture.

Please provide feedback that is going to help me rather quickly as the factory one is going quickly.

Thanks

CADENCE

If you dont plan on going with nitrous or turbo, ect....go with the stage 2. It will be better as a daily driver, and most likely last long also. Get the clutch from carcustoms.

I have a stage III and flywheel and it's a b!tch to drive daily. If I had it to do again, stage II all the way!! Plus, without F/I you should see no problems of slippage or anything with the stage II.

I was planning a turbo set up at the time I got mine and felt it would be best. The turbo fell through, but I still got the clutch! Daily driving for me is stop and go and I think to be honest, I'm wearing mine out already after 2 years!

You shouldn't ever need anything more than the Stage II unless you're putting out more than 250 whp. I'm putting down 225 on my stage II with no problems, plus it's easy as hell to launch, good around town, and will last longer than a stage III would.

I was considering upgrading my clutch as well... Would the stage II last longer than , say, the stock clutch?

I don't have any mods yet, but i do plan to get some in the future... Im really only concerned with it's lifespan.

A clutch is no different than any other aftermarket part. It's designed for performance, not to last as long as a stock item would. I've had a stage III installed for 2 years in April and it seems to be getting along good still. Although at times I think it's worn out, but then launch at 4000 rpm and it holds like a mofo! So who knows!

Anyway, don't expect all aftermarket parts to last as long as OEM parts. Remember, OEM is design to cut costs on the manufacture for warranty issues and performance parts are designed to perform first, durability is second in most cases.

There are better parts out there than OEM, that last longer than OEM too, but I don't thnk clutches are one of them IMO.

It might be a bitch to drive because of the alumn flywheel. I have a SPEC stage 4 with 6 puck unsprung disk, and it isnt THAT bad on the street.....Its badass on the track

I am using the stock flywheel with the SPEC stage 4. I have heard that stock flwheels are best for turbo cars.
