Honestly, I was meh on my clone of one. I even had heavy duty springs, and it didn't really increase traction that well for drag racing, if any at all. Maybe it's worth it for AutoX, but I have no experience with it.

In the end, you still have a weak ass Isuzu differential in there.

O noes!

...Id like to know the same thing. I am gonna be doing a complete tranny overhaul...got a new t.bearing, centerforce d/f, and am saving to buy a new tranny, alum flywheel, mounts, and phantom grip, if it is a nice item. Hey Daniel, how does your ride drive with the fidanza flywheel...I am a good driver, is it really quirky during city driving, or is it manageable? I hope it just takes getting used to, Id love to get one...

there is very mixed opinions on the PG if you havent noticed.

options you have for LSD :

isuzu : not much, some were lucky and got in the GP back when they made quaifes (sp?) otherwise PG or some clutch type

new getrag(f23) : GM's dif for the f25 might work, the idea has been tossed around (im not saying it will or wont cuz i dont know), maybe some quaifes still around as well, also PG and same same

old getrag or NVG : Torsen dif from achievas (rare) or same other options as above

youll be lucky to get a real lsd for anything less than 900-1000. i was lucky and got a torsen but it wasnt cheap. i just now have enough to get it in my car.. pics are in my reg. will be in soon when i get time.

We've had pretty good luck with our units.

Smokey, get better tires....... cause you know you where spinning both Your only going to get as much traction as your tires let you.

I tired to get one from Quaifes a few weeks ago and they sent me an emial back saying that they have no more units for the f23 and they don't plan to carry any more anytime soon. I wish I would of known that a while ago because I would of gotten one back then.

Well i have a team green LSD with some pretty stiff springs, i havent gotten it installed yet, building a new trans for it to go in, but from some of the post ive read, the PG is a good unit, but does have its fualts, its not going to be as good as a locker, or even a good clutch type diff.

I would love to get ahold of a Quaife LSD, but the GP they had recently was just to much for me to spend.

The PhantomGrip isn't worth the money to me. I'm buying one of Team Green's LSD's from Brian aka;SpeedRacerZ
GMX Performance
Much better performance and value from their LSD in my opinion.

Bump old thread

I guess I better think about something since I'm swapping a Getrag into my new 2000 vert...

So there isn't a Phantom Grip piece for the 2000+ getrag? (Is that the F23? i don't know yet)

Crap.

PG's web site lists their unit to fit both the isuzu and getrag. I'm putting one of our LSD's in my Getrag before it goes back in my car. Check my sig.

..... and yes, the 00+ getrag is the F23.

i;d say its not a waste of money.

i had mine installed at 104,000 miles and am now at 127,000 miles. so 23,000 miles later, and it still works just as day one.

i;ve raced on it, gone through a winter, which was completely awesome, and daily driving is way more enjoyable, especially in the rain.

i might have paid more, but it was well worth it.

I am getting ready to have mine installed, its a Team Green unit and what do you use to hold the two halves pressed together while yo insert it into the diff??? All i got in the box was the 2 halves, and 4 springs and nothing else, I need to know how to install this thing?

HELP????

Use a bench vise to compress it, then insert 4 bolts in the holes. We then used welding wire to 'Figure 8' in-between the bolts, to hold it together. You can try HD zip ties..... PG is supposed to supply 4 pins, and some aluminum clips, but ours never came with them. Once you get it in the Diff, cut the wire.

I was planning on making some clips for them, just never got around to it. So much to do, so little time to do it.

My Phantom Grip, came with 4 dowel pins, and two little plates that slipped over the pins to hold the unit together.

My question, is how do you remove the LSD from the differential so you can change the springs? I would like to get stiffer springs from you, but have no idea how I am going to get it out of there. It is tight as hell.
