Since you do not live in CA there is NO sales tax. Final price is 126 free S&H on the website.

I have a 2001. Didn't like the B&M logo / advertising on the knob either, so when I originally installed it, YES, I threaded the factory knob on the B&M shifter .It looked great, but noticed it didn't seem to shift as good ??

Sure enough, baffled by this I swapped them back and forth several times, and it was NOT a fluke, It definately shifted better / smoother with the B&M knob! Sooo, what's the difference I asked myself ? Only thing different is, the WEIGHT ! So I found a nice hunk of Stainless Steel, chucked it up in the lathe, and machined up a new knob, that looks good and fits my hand. It weighs almost twice as much as the B&M aluminum knob and shifts even smoother / better.

Knob weight can play a huge factor . . . .

As for advertising... they are the manufacture... they have to put there logo on it.... so people can see who made it....

as asked earler, can the B&M reverse lock out system be removed without butchering anything, and if so, how and how hard? thank you to anyone who can let me know.

I am unsure I have never installed it on a 00+ J car since I dont own one. I have heard of people getting rid of it just not sure how it was done. I am sorry.

there is a drift pin that hold the reverse lock out into the shifter , get the pin out and you can remove it

but id just bend the tab up for reverse , it usualy doesnt work any way

Note that there are a bunch of knobs out there that work with the lock-out lifter.

Mine's a MOMO.

I was hesitant on getting the short throw also. I liked the look and thought that the feel was good with the stocker. But definitely worth the ching for the short throw! Karo is the man to go too! I love driving the Cav even more now. Definitely worth the money and a must for any car!

since my 01' doesnt have a factory reverse lockout, do i need to remove it in order to install this shifter? I was thinking that i might have gotten the wrong shifter till i looked at the directions. If i leave the lock out on there will it work properly and give me a reverse lockout where there was none before?

If your 01 doesn't have the lockout, then someone has already removed it for you.

ALL 00-05 J's with a manual tranny have the reverse lockout lifter from the factory.

It's the only shifter available for the Getrag tranny. Hell, even the Focus and other cars with a Getrag use a similar system so it might be Getrag's method of choice.

Well i just installed the shifter. It went really really easy, easier than i thought it would go and so far i LOVE it!! And about not having a reverse lock-out....I did have one on the factory shifter but it seemed to be stuck in the up position so i wouldnt have to lift anything for reverse.

Also, the motor mounts that i got are in....those went really easily as well and its amazing what those two little mounts can do.

THANKS KARO!!

installed my short throw last night and i must say its a big inprovement over the stocker. man I thought i didnt think it was gonna be that big of a improvement but its great. It was pretty hard to get the stock one out without trying to break anything cause i didnt know how fragile all the peices are. I gotta say tho next time if i were to install another one i know its gonna be easier. but I can recommend anyone to get this if they want something with a better feel to it.

J-Bo driver once again.......
