the bell housing are diff but can be swapped. keep in mind that the gear and fdr ratios are a little diff.

The bellhousing is way different, but you might use some of the stuff out of the 2.2 to rebuild the 2.4. My transmission I'm workin' on is a 2.4 with some 2.2 gears in it..

You can swap all of the internals from the 2.2 trans into your 2.4 trans. I have a 1999 2.2 using all of the internals out of a 2.4 trans, except for the differential.

The benefit is the shorter gear rartios. If you can, use the 1st and 2nd gear from the 2.4, and 3rd gear from the 2.2s.
The only thing that sucks when using all of the 2.4 gears on a 2.2 motor is that the rpms drop down lower when going into 3rd gear. When we had my trans apart 2 weeks ago, I forgot to swap over to the 2.2 3rd and 4th gear.

is there any way to take a 2.4 and bolt it to a 2.2 5spd out of an s10?
Obviously the bell housing is gonna be different, but are there any bell housings for a rwd isuzu truck that would work?

O.K. this is just what I was looking for. I just took my tranny apart again, blew the diff again (3rd 1). Its hard to find a 2.4 tranny so I was told I can take a 2.2 tranny grap the diff and just change the ring gear and im done, as the output shaft gears and bearing are all the same. is this true ?

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.

Yes, the 2.2 diff will swap into the 2.4 trans
Yes, the 2.2 gears will swap into the 2.4 trans
Yes, you can mix and match the gears

Mantapart sells a bell housing for the 2.4/2.3 to bolt to rwd trannies.....

So how about doing it the other way around? I'm looking at swapping in a 2.4L (currently running the 2200), can I just swap out the bell housing and bolt it up?
