park/break interlock cable...

can someone please tell me how to remove the park/brake interlock cable from the shifter assembly... on my 4T40E

Pull...? It's just a piece of plastic on a metal knob.. pulls right off. If you're really stuck, or a weakling (sorry).. use a screwdriver to pull it off. Or a pair of pliers.

Under the centre console... attached to the side of the shifter assembly. There's two cables.. the top one is the interlock.. the bottom one is the shift cable.

Push down the button, you'll see the top one move a bit. Pry it off, and you can put the manual shift knob on (I assume that's what you're doing, why else would you ask? lol)... and pin the shift button down without having to worry about the key.
