Swap questions
Tuesday, November 09, 2010 3:21 PM
Im very close to deciding on doing the 00+ getrag swap on my 99Z. I know the flywheels are the same between the motors but the clutch is throwing me off, I know the clutch disk is the same and assume the pressure plate is as well since its the same flywheel. When looking up parts it shows different part numbers for the 96-99 and 00+, is it just the release bearing that is different?

Also, are the axles the same? Ive read both ways but would like a difinitive answer, if they are different is it the length of the axle?

Found the answer for the axle length.

96-99:
LH: 23 5/16" Compressed Length
RH: 37 13/16" Compressed Length

00-02:
LH: 23 5/8" Compressed Length
RH: 37" Compressed Length

The spline counts and ABS speed sensor teeth are all the same so the axles will fit, just the lengths are wrong.

I cant seem to find a difference between the throw out bearings though.

The clutch discs are the same, 8 7/8" diameter, 1" OD spline, 14 tooth spline.
