Shifter cable length

Anyone know how long our shifter cables are? If you have a set kicking around if you could measure the outer casing length and the eye to eye length that would be great. I'm trying to get new ones made that dont have plastic ends.

I did an in car measure and it came out to about 44 inches so I ordered some 4 ft cables. They look really short, then I hold them up to the car an they look right. Now I'm having trouble finding a 3/8 ball joint to go on the transmission with a 1/4-28 thread.

I have a front to back cable in the garage somewhere I can look for if you still need it.

Leafy, got any more information on this? How will it attach to the stifter?

Attach to the shifter? I'm making a whole new shifter. I'll post picks of the design I'm trying to make it easy enough to be made without machine tools but I have a slot that needs to be smooth and will come out much better done in a mill than drilled by hand and smoothed with a file.

Still working on it. Rear brakes are coming first and school comes before both.

Ok sorry for the long delay.

Stock shifter cable that controls the front to back shifting on a getrag is 59 1/4 inches from end to end.

sorry correction to the length.

Working on it. This one will be different from PJ's design. I'm utilizing a full spherical for shift stick support and a different way of transmitting the left to right movement to the cables. It should fit all center consoles and be able to be swapped to work with the issusu by undoing 3 bolts flipping a plate and bolting it back up.

My next struggle is finding connectors that go from the shifter cables to the tranny, all the sizes I bought are either too big or too small. I bet its a metric size ball but I need mine threaded for 1/4-28 that is on the cable so a standard metric sized ball joint connector is no good.
