I'm guessing the trans in my car is the getrag *5-speed manual*. Well the shop told me the synchro for gear 3 is gone because I can shift in/out of third when i'm stopped, but as soon as I start moving if I slide into third it grinds going in and is fine coming out.

Anyone around Baton Rouge, LA want to give me a hand completely rebuilding this thing? The shops want a fortune, but I'm trying to learn how to do it myself just need help.

Go to ebay and see if you can buy the DVD that GM came out with on how to overhaul the F23. You can also find the F23 toolkit on ebay. The only thing you need besides those two things are the parts and a press.

I can't find the DVD, but would prefer it in book form

Took me 5 mins... or you can go to the dealer and if your lucky the service manager can print you out the same thing thats on that DVD...

The service kit makes things 1000 times easier.
