Are all F23's the same?
Tuesday, August 09, 2011 8:50 PM
Besides the bellhousing, are all F23's the same? Reason I ask is I'm getting an OBX LSD for my F23 which is mated to my 2.4L Quad4. The site lists the LSD fitting the F23 in the cobalt. I'm assuming the diffs in each are the same, is that correct?

Wasting my money?! Please...if you don't have anything worth contributing, don't post. I've already got a Team Green insert. It's not an LSD, and I don't like how it performs. You can buy an OBX LSD for $300, stick another $100 or so into it, and you've got a kick ass LSD that's proven to stand up to a lot of power even down the drag strip...and for a lot less money than a Quaife.

I'm with cursed cavy on this one. The OBX is a real LSD not a fake one like the TG or PG, at least the TG is a decent fake LSD.

All the f23 internals are the same, the cases are different between the cavaliers and cobalts. Obx is the only way to go, just remember one of the faces need machined inorder to get the proper clearances for the carrier bearings.

I have a how to on it!

So if im looking for good internals for my f23.. All the used trannys have over 100k... So if i found a f23 that was in a cobalt could i just take the internals out and put them in my f23 for my 00 cav _24? I'm in the process of having mine built and my diff grenaded on me and ruined all the internals except the case?

lol @ Fake LSD.....

The difference is one is a Limited Slip Differential, and the other is a Open Differential with a Limited Slip Insert.......

For the money, YES, the OBX is the way to go (as long as you follow JMarks write up). Parts wise, its only $50-75 more for the OBX LSD compaired to the TeamGREEN LSD Insert, untill you add in the bearings, shim kit, and paying a shop to have it correctly shimed (unless you have the tools/knowlage to do it yourself), where the TeamGREEN insert costs nothing extra.

To answer the OP's question, YES. F23 is the RPO code for the transmission, and all parts for it are interchangable.
