I picked up a 97 sunfire for a great price with 130k on her, but after driving for a week i noticed it was getting harder to shift gears. Then i found out why, the oil cap had popped out spewing out all the tranny oil. After puttimg a new cap from GM and 2 bottles of oil a few weeks after that 5th stopped wanting to go in. It feels like its not going in all the way like before and just pops out when i release the clutch pedal. I think the syncro is done for yet reverse works fine so not 100% sure. Im looking at rebuild kits and they are like $300+ for overhual kit with syncro rings. Otherwise I will swap a lower mile trans in it but the closest i can find is one with 71k but its 200 miles away for $350 bucks. if anyone has a wrecked 96-99 cav or sunfire with a 5 speed or grandam 5 speed with the 2.4dohc motor please let me know. thanks -Tom 951-836-1987 call or text anytime or email foxxconn@hotmail.com
