I just picked up an '03 5 speed. The trans shifts fine, but the side to side movement is very stiff. If I pull the shifter to the left or right, if will stay there, and not spring back to the center position. Anyone know what the cause of this is? It makes shifting from 2-3 and 4-5 and back down kinda awkward.
Take the shifter boot off, lube it up with some WD-40, and once it's freed up, work in some grease to keep everything lubricated.

Thanks, tried that today. I think it's the left shift cable that's seized up a little though
