Friday, March 22, 2013 4:20 PM
Today I was backing up in my 5sp 04 cavy and I herd a pop from my front end. I got out of my car and check to see if I hit something I didn't see anything so I got back in the car trying to go on my mary way but the car won't go in any gear its almost like the clutch isnt engaging but the car starts the clutch has pretty good pressure and fluid. .. any ideas

I've read around the forum that some auto parts stores sell our axles that are shorter than stock. Don't remember exactly but I think Advance and NAPA had the right length from what I've read. Search the forum and you'll find it.

Crazy that it just snapped like that. Guess maybe since it wasn't the right size.

If the axle is too short it will usually snap at the joint under the boot and fail... you won't even see it.

I've had that happen to me 3 times.

It's a pretty loud pop!
