Nice.

Question is the TOB a GM unit?

Has anyone else noticed how unfortunate (and poorly thought out) naming a company that manufactures clutch kits... "KY"

KY clutches, they slip so good...

No love for the 2200 yet again...

KY stands for Kentucky... The state they manufacture out of... I am pretty sure the US government came up with "KY" as the state abbreviate before your thought in your mind (at 12:18 in the morning )...

Furthermore, they are far from "slipping" clutch kits, they are the BEST value in clutch kits out there, hold the most torque for the price. Cobalts, who push the limits, use KY clutch kits ONLY.

As always, they make any clutch kit, just have to PM us for your 2200; just as those with the 2.4L did, and look what they have now...

They purchase it from the same source "GM" buys them from. So they cut out "GM" and buy direct.

Thats good to hear! It always got me that not many companies made clutch kits for the 2200 when it is FAR more common in 95-05 vehicles than the eco or LD9 ever was... a 2200 clutch will fit a 1.8 turbo and non-turbo, a 2.0L also turbo and non turbo, 2.2L, 2200, 3X00's...all in multiple different platforms (which means only the disc splines and possibly the pressure plate fingers change)

Especially with the common use of the 2.2 and 2200 in the S10 scene... it just does not make sense.

GL with the sales, so far my stock Exedy is holding well, but I will be in touch if that ever changes...

Yeah, all you have to do is PM us and once we get "demand" we will offer them. Heck KY had ready to ship the 2.4L kit for Luke that same day. So they are a fairly good size company...

^^Yeah, I skipped past the posts with the KY Jelly. LOL

I will have to look into this in the near future. A stage 3 should work nicely on the 3400

As Aaron said, I bought a stage 1 kit. I'm putting an OBX LSD in my F23 trans and am sick and tired of the junk SPEC Stage 3+ that's in there. Had a SPEC Stage 2 before that, and it was just as bad. Inconsistent engagement, slippage, etc. Didn't want to go all out and buy a stage 3 KY right off the bat because of the price jump from the stage 1. Figured I'd try the stage 1 out, see how I like it, and upgrade to a stage 3 sometime down the road. Trans should be back from the shop next week, so I'll give a little review once I've got it in and on the road.

Wow, I've been meaning to write this for a while. I've had a reminder in my email but just haven't had a chance to get to it. Had some issues with the trans and LSD and the car has been sitting all winter, so it wasn't on my radar.

In short, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Quality: Just by looking at it, it seems to be very well built. I took pictures of it...I'll have to dig those up and post them. The pressure plate and disc both looked very solid and well-built

Engagement: 1000x better than the SPEC!!! I can't even express to you guys how excited I was about the engagement. It's much like a stock clutch. The clutch pedal feels normal, and it's got a nice precise engagement feel. The best part is that it is CONSISTENT. The Spec would engage whenever it pleased. Sometimes at the bottom of the pedal, other times at the top. The KY engages in the same place, every time.

Feel: Everything about it is nice and crisp. With the Spec, I had all sorts of chatter, slipping, weird engagement issues, odd noises, lurching at certain RPMs, etc. All of those issues went away once I put the KY clutch in. I've beat on it a fair amount and have yet to have it slip. Keep in mind the car is non-boosted at the moment, so I didn't have a lot of power behind it. Regardless, I think I put it through a bit of hell and it's held up nicely.

All in all, I'm very happy with the stage 1 I went with. Once I get the boost back this summer, I'll beat on it some more and hopefully post a follow-up to this review.

Nice, thanks man. I was giddy about this purchase but after your review im even more. I am getting the stage 3, so bopefully it is as good as you say your stage 1 is.

Do you guys recommend purchasing the TOB as well? I have one in the trans that came from the parts car but unsure of its condition.

^^ When ordered through your site how long before they are shipped? Or are they made with each order?

I ordered a TOB with mine just in case since it was considerably cheaper than buying from an auto parts store. I ended up re-using the TOB I had and I haven't had any problems. So in the case that you need a new TOB, I've got one sitting on my shelf waiting to be used

Curious question.
I'm wondering how good the longevity is for the stage 1 when a daily driver? Will I get 100k miles out of it on a non-boosted application?
My factory clutch has 120k on it now, and it still holds, no slipping, but its starting to chatter a bit more than I'd really like. I'd like to replace it with a stage 1, so when/if I do go with some mild boost, I'll be good to go. When I do boost, I'll really only be looking to make 200 hp, just enough for a fun dd, so stage 1 should be great.
With all the stories about the SPEC clutches, I've never wanted to take the chance on getting a good one or a bad one. I had a clutch masters in my old gt, but those have sky rocketed in price.
Any idea on that Aaron?

From what we have seen, the stage 1 should be right for you; as long as the goals you stated about are held at that.
