2.2 vs 2.4 Differential

I have a 98 2200 5-speed transmission with a bad differential. Also have a 2.4L 5-speed tranny from a 99 with a bad 3rd gear synchro, and 5th gear is out, but the differential is good in that one. Are the differentials interchangeable to make a good 2.2 tranny?

Yes they are. They are the same parts.

However, be aware that the ring gears are different. Swapping in the final drive from the 2.4 will give you quicker accelleration, but you'll also have higher RPMs on the highway, lowering your MPG a little bit.
