I remember a thread about cutting a reace off the subframe so you can drop the trans without removing the sub frame. what peace is it and where?
There is a jbody group on Facebook wtf
Hey those are my pictures!!! Thief!!! No credit Mike? LMAO
But yep, that's the spot, just trim the unneeded like 12 inches from that spot. LOL
But no seriously there is a ton of material you can remove, we took a conservative amount off but there's was still more we could take. This is on a 98 Z24's subframe, but I'm sure more could be taken to compensate for the slightly larger getrag if needed, in fact I plan to do my 03 coupe's subframe when I start rebuilding it some year in the future.
This literally makes tranny drops a cake walk, they just slip in and out without playing Tetris to get them out.
Can someone post the link to the original thread please.
GMR has got nothing on this
Anyone have these pics? They aren't showing now...
so planning on dropping the tranny to putin a stage 2 clutch, aluminum flywheel and TG difft. But i stumbled appon this...so basically all i have to do is take off that from support bar on the drivers side and cut it what? 2 inches and i wont need to drop the sub frame to drop the tranny?
told my boss this and he was like "why woudnt u just take th extra 15mins to just drop the sub frame....
The only thing that bolts there is that support brace that runs to the rad support. So just cut that piece back till just before where that bolt goes through at it will make a world of difference.
Howdy I'm new here, from what I've been seeing and hearing is that cars from the north are exposed to some great weather and those subframe bolts shear off when t you try to unfastened them.. PITA
I'm going to hammer mine and if it's still a little too tight of a fit ima cutting..
this mod actually work? what the hell did/do u use to cut that frame? torch? saws all?
