Noise in transmission
Saturday, April 02, 2005 9:48 PM
I put in my new engine about 2,500 miles ago and my tranny about 2,000. It has new clutch, flywheel, all that good stuff. But after a while I started hearing a sort of wierd constant noise( kinda like the gears making noise when rolling. But if I pushed in my clutch pedal it would stop. Any ideas?

not to clear on my end..so when your in neutral lets say...your trans is makeing noise but when you push the clutch the noise is deleted. if so then i'd say it's your idler gear and too me that would be normal, well depending on how loud this is but yah

Or it could be the throwout bearing/slave cylinder. I know on the Spec clutches, the one they provide is pretty noisy until you put the clutch in. Then it stops.

Never did understand that.

revival of an old post... lol... but i have the exact same problem. I never thought throw out bearing.. isn't the opposite though, when you push the clutch in the noise should start if its the bearing, no? My oil was low, so I put some of the syncromesh in, didn't quiet it up one bit, unfortunately. It almost sounds like the gear box is on the way out. anyone have the same problem and get it fixed?
