News to me:
This transmission is a special EUROPEAN EXPORT-ONLY unit and has a special race-bred gearset not sold in the US! The assembly code is 4DFF and carries part number 10235022. The gear ratios are lower than all the V-6 Getrags and most other Quad 4 Getrags.

I read that, but I would guess that it would be the same as the LG0 gearset, or at absolute best, the W41, seeing that both have the 3.94 FDR.

So what would it take to get this to work on my 1998 Sunfire GT? With my current noise issue, I may need a new tranny ASAP and if this is better than the stock one it might be the answer.

Lots of info available by searching this forum; several high powered cars (SpeedRacerZ comes to mind) have done this swap. Search for either NVT550, HM282 or Muncie.

the nvg is the best tranny as far as i know, even for 96-99 car!!
the isuzu on ebay is external slave and need minor modification, droptoppaul did it. all you need is the line from the master to the slave from the 2.3!! and of course an external slave.
for the nvg you will need the tob and a nvg mount dont remember which one you need front or rear). also you will need to machine a little bracket to extend one of the shifter cable.
