is my shift linkage(?) broken?
Thursday, March 06, 2008 1:45 PM

I thought I saw somewhere on where a while ago, somebody posted a pic like that.
And they told them that the front shift linkage(cable?) was broken where it connects to that plastic end piece.

Is that normal?

Its really hard to put it into 3rd gear, and almost impossible(you REALLY have to shove on it) to get it into 1st at any slower then about 10mph(I used to be able to shift down, and get into 1st at about 20mph) IE I'm coming to a stop, and will be going again real soon(Stop sign)

Maybe your transmission. Did you try to double clutch when your going in to first? It might help. Maybe the shifter cables are gone on your transmission? They look fine in that picture. Take a look on your transmission to see what they look like. They are on the drivers side, just to the side of the back cornor of the engine if you were wondering where they are.

from the sound of this its definately not linkage my guess would be transmission is either low on fluid or going out on you
try checking the fluid level and maybe put some lucas in it and then go from there
