18x9 In The Back.. Will It Fit??
Friday, September 17, 2010 4:56 PM
I'm looking at a set of wheels... I have the option of a staggered fitment, with 18x8 up front and 18x9 in the back. both have a 35+ offset. I wanna do it, but dont want rubbing issues. I have RKSport Pro Streets that are like, 2 threads from the bottom in the back so it sits pretty low.. I'm sure rolling the lip and maybe bending the spring perch are mandatory for this, but I was wanting to see what some of you guy have done.. without cutting out the trunk and going IRS I can link pics of the wheels if need be

You will need spacers and to roll the 1/4 a bit.

I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

ur gonna be more worried about ur quarter panel more than ur suspension! +35 might stick out w/ a 9" rim!

not in the back it wont. have 18x8 with a 35 in back.. he will be flush with his fenders at most running 18x9. i have a good 1-2" space still

hmmm, good info in here guys.. I had 18x8s before, but no clue to the offset, I'm guessing +35.. my own rubbing issues was turning full-lock and rubbing the inner fenders up front..

i only rub when i turn left but i dont have inner fender liners lol. i rub on the actually underside metal fender. but then again im dumped on my ground controls rears i dont rub at all. if you run 225s i think you will be find. give it that slight stretch.

azncav: add an inch to your x8's. he will be close! what size tire u goin' to run on those?

i run 18x8's w/ a 42mm offset! i'm not as low as u azn, but i have ZERO rubbing issues!

02_redbadged ... your 42mm offset means your wheels are closer to your struts. my 35 rear and 38 fronts are total different story lol.

only way to find out is to do it ! lol 18x9 on a 35mm offset and 225/40/18 rubber and 18x8 in fronts with a 35mm offset and 215 rubber would be nice.

think you missed where i mentioned i have 1-2 more inches until i reach my fenders. so with an 18x9 i would THINK he would be flush or near to it.

im dumped bro. i only rub on my right front tire when i turn left. the top of the tire hits the inner metal fender. i dont rub at all on the actual fenders.

I run 19x9, with 35mm offset and SSBC's plus a 3mm spacer because the design of my wheel wouldn't clear my caliper in the rear and here is how it sits.

The SSBC's push them out about 1/2in which gives just enough room to clear the struts comfortably while giving good stance.

If I didn't have that 3mm spacer the wheels would just fit behind my rolled 1/4's.

In the front's he is going to be flush and very close to everything inside and out with no way to run spacers unless he runs toyos.

oh yea, forgot to mention the Toyota fenders lol.. I know i'll be fine up front, it was rears I was questioning. not sure on tire size for the back yet, I was gonna do a lil homework on it. I had stretched 35s on my 18x8" Rotas and the ride was noticably rougher.. on top of the dumped coilovers i'm on

AZN, aren't you running on air ride?

Stretch the tires. You know you want to.

lol, no stretching. the back of the Cavi was bad enough... I had all 4 stretched on my Volkswagen Golf Mk2, and that was hell.. sadly, no worse than only 2 on the Cavi, so go figure that

the D-Specs get there yet, Brian?

Did you ever get the car running right?

yea, I called up at FedEx and talked to that woman.. the driver was a day late or some sh*t. she flat out said the guy is a dick and does what he wants.. glad you like them tho. post pics when you get them on. as far as the Black Pearl goes, it needs a tune pretty badly and the exhaust.. but it'll crank up and drive, so I'm happy. it also needs bigger wheels, cause the factory Z wheels with 45-series tires is just too low.. hense why I made this thread. and as far as the sedan goes, its coming along. got my 18" Konigs on it with the Dropzone coilovers. it looks amazing IMO.. sadly alot of the goodies dont work.. the halos, the air comp for the trainhorns.. we found alot of burnt wires today. I hate it when ppl hack job their cars..

IDK I am on STD's and have zero gap between tire and fender and that inner fender lip butchered my tire... AND I have it rolled. I need to cut and pull the rears for my new wheels. 17x8 rota boosts with 25 MM spacer. Should put me at a 23mm offset. or I may go with a 20mm spacer

I had 18x8" Rota Sub-Zeroes on my last Cavalier, and I had enough space to cram an infant up there..
