Tire size question
Wednesday, October 20, 2010 12:22 PM
I have some 18x8 45mm offset Wheels with Baer big brakes on rear running 225/40/18 But thime has come to change rear tires. Has anybody put 235/40/18 Or 245/40/18 on rear with no rubbing issues?

why do you want to run wider and taller rubber on the rear? are they cheaper because they're a more common size or something? If anything you want to run narrower on the rear of a front wheel drive car to help combat understeer.

No not cheaper more for looks of filling out rear gap. As for understeer I have drag wheels for that.

i've got 245/40/17's on 17x8 with a 35mm offset on my sedan. (should mention that i have rolled and pulled the rears some)

you'll probably want to go to at least a 35 series sidewall as the 40 series for an 18" wheel will be taller than your existing tire.

235-40-18's on all four corners of my Sunfire with AGX's/Pro-Kit. No modifications and no problems.
