cluster swap problems
Friday, November 06, 2009 10:08 PM

Ive been having problems with my dash lights so as part of my quest i went and got a different cluster. Ive got a 98 sunfire 3spd 2200 and the cluster i got is out of a 99 with same options. Problem is after putting the new cluster in and re-connecting the battery. The gas gauge dont read right and when i start the car the passlock kicks in and also the mileage is wrong. Is this new cluster useless to me or is there something i can do to make it work. The wrong mileage isnt a huge issue but it does bother me.

Im thinking there maybe a possible short in my factory cluster causing my instrument panel fuse to keep blowing. I put in a diff dimmer switch, reostat,blinker/headlight switch, and still the problem continues. The lights work fine if the car is just sitting but when i start driving it last a few blocks and then pops the fuse. effing GRRR is all i can say!
