yeah i had to measure mine. i put in all the way down to first gear and then marked it where i was gonna cut. have to make sure still can reach all the way down. so not to short

get a sunfire gt knob. they're leather wrapped, look like they belong and are comfortable as hell.

^^^^pics, btw we have the same tastes in shift boots lol, although mine is now gone. but i still have the sunfire gt knob and still think it's ten times better than the cav one

^^Yep I was gonna get the GT shift knob with an OEM shifter boot.

Jason I wont cut it too short, I was only gonna cut it 1.5"

reason i mention that is because it curves a bit and if u cut it do short u cant get it down thru all of the gears. know someone who did that.

on the wifes vert I changed from a 98 console to a 00 manual out of mine and the shifter set up out of a 01 z auto. I didn't cut it down, but just a FYI the grand prix leather shifter knob not only fits perfect but looks and feels ten times better. especially if you cut it down the knob will have a slight clockwise turn to it so it will fit you hand much better.
