Hey guys, a few months ago i was toying around with the idea of removing the interior of the sunfire. I had a 94 civic that i had removed 85% of the interior on, and i loved it, so ive decided to do it on the sunfire too. I'll post pics when i'm done, and in case anyone is interested in interior parts from a 2002 sunfire 2dr, let me know. So far i'm going to be removing the door panels, all plastic interior trim, rear seats, headliner, dash (top and bottom including glove box), and probably center console too.
looking at making the transition from grocery getter to a-little-more-race-car-ish.
after i get the interior taken out, i'm going to work on chasis stiffening and then suspension and hopefully by then i'll have figured out what i want to do in terms of power mods.
also, has anyone seen (or know where to find) pictures of cavys/sunfires w/o interiors? haven't seen any yet, just wondering what i'm in store for.
Our cars rattle enough as it is, so 99% of everyone on here leaves it in. Plus the performance you gain from the weight loss can be offset by more boost.

The interior is what, maybe 60-70lbs? Not worth it to me. 1-2 extra psi of boost will more than make that up.

I removed the complete interior from my 89 Ford Escort. I'd post pics but don't have a URL just jpg's on my HDD. I could PM them if you like. I made a sheet aluminum NASCAR style dash for mine. The car sure is "roomy" without the interior.
Not complete removal, but the majority of it is out.

I under stand losing the spare tire jack and rear seats but to do the carpet don't make sense your exposing your body harness and all your weight is in the dash to me its pointless. and you'll regret it when you go to sale it keep every thing is my sugestion to you don't mean to be a ass but I did this to my eclipse and regreted it

I did the same thing to my car, You have a lot more you can remove.
As far as not being much of an performance boost, It was the difference between winning and loosing when I did it. I was really surprised how much faster it picked up, and stopped. I could slide the rear end by myself when I was low on gas.

I removed the carpet because ill be putting new carpet in. im in no way stripping the car for weight reduction. Lol I just had pictures so I thought id post them.

as long as you have carpet lol I don't see why people strip that lol looks good do the dash now lmfao just remember if you have any holes weld them or they wont let you on the track.
some ppl never learn, dude removing interior is easy, is there a real point less then a second on the quarter times, build up the car, make it fast and if you see fit of waisting more time then so be it remove all you want your still going to be slow, your running a 2.2 and an auto, your never going to be fast plain and simple, and look at the quartermile sticky before you react to my comment, the guys that gut the cars are running nowhere near us with full interiors(or modded),

see i want to remove all my interior but its cause i would like to add fatmat into every crevise to quiet it down.
