Rear Seat Delete
Sunday, October 17, 2004 8:18 PM
What's the best way of doing this? Can anyone give me some really good instructions and a list of parts that I'll need?

I'm planning on getting racing seats soon, and I wanted to remove my backseats and put in some wood covered in carpet, but I'm not sure how the heck I can cut this to match perfectly back there, or what I should even do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Seat Back Removal/Reinstallation
Remove Seat Belt from child adjustors, if applicable.
Pull back of rear seat to a 45 degree angle. Seat will release to the right. All you have to do is push firmly to the right, while pulling lower left corner of off the rod sticking out, about 1.5".
Install in reverse order, right side rod first, then sliding over left side rod.
Seat Bottom Removal

1. Hold seat bottom front on both sides, about 8-10" from sides.
Lift seat. Pull forward.
Seat Bottom Reinstallation

Look where seat bottom attached - there will be 2 holes in the floor. It is likely that there will be a black clip left in each of these holes.
Being VERY CAREFUL to note how they come out, remove each clip, and reattach to seat. It is easiest to do one at a time, so if you drop the clip, or whatever, it is easy to reorient the clip based on the position of the other one.
Clips, after being replace on seat bottom, will need to POP back into the holes. Place seat bottom in place, pulling seat belts through the slots. While pushing seat bottom back, push the clips back into the hole.
Use some downward force to lock the clips in place, and you are all done.

Hmm...

I wanted to know how to make a fake seat in the back, not how to replace my seats, lol. Thanks though.
carpet the part where the seat bottom goes, and make a wall where the seat back goes. wrap it in vinyl, and you're good to go

if your putting racing seats in the front, recover your stockers and put them in the back. i don't really understand what your asking but if you want it so be the shape of the floorboard you wont be able to do it with wood. Just mask everything of and make a fiberglass mold.
That doesent look hard to do at all. You could just weld some brackets to the floor and mount some plywood covered with carpet.

It's not really hard to do...I did that with my fiance last summer...Basically just use cardboard to measure all the angles and cut, and trace it out onto a large piece of wood, cut, cover in carpet and voila! Mine is so tight, that it actually stays in place with nothing holding it. I also cut out 2 holes on each side, put in some plexi, and mounted my 2 amps underneath, added some blue neons, it looks great. No pictures though, I'm going to see my car this weekend (its in storage), maybe i can snap a few pics of it...

also, i made mine in 2 parts, because i found 1 big piece to hard to work with.

frank has it down, when it comes to that sort of thing, cardboard is your friend. i do most of my audio stuff in cardboard first to make sure i have the shape right before i ever pick up a wood saw.

just get the fiberglass enclosure from RKsport for 4 subs and put that there...instant fix

selling the box and subs. going with a new setup. i'll actually be starting on it in about two weeks, just have to get the car alligned, and in the paintshop first. then its all interior work.

as for rksports sub enclosure, its a nice attempt, but after you spend 900$ for the barbon fiber one or $500 for the fiberglass one, you still have to fiberglass the bottom of the sub box to make it useful and paint it if its the fiberglass model. for all that model you could have went to your local audio shop and paid them to build you something truly custom.
