cheap new mod?

Thought I would throw this out there in case anyone is interested. I noticed that the 05 Trailblazer and others of the same variety seem to use the same door striker as my 02 and up cavy. But they are nice and shiny instead of the gloss black. Could make a cheap mod for the detail oriented. I'm gonna order a pair this week. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ok got my parts in today. Looks like they will work just fine. My only disappointment was they did not come with new bolts. The parts guy could not locate a part number for the bolts either. I'm gonna try another dealership and see if they can't locate them for me. Here is the part numbers for the strikers... 25767961 . If I get the bolts I'll post those part numbers also.

So it bolts right on and works properly? Cool, and thanks for the part number. What was the price?

Unless I'm off the mark, he's talking about this guy here being chromed instead of black:

Yep thats the striker. I guess its not really chrome but more like stainless with a clearcoat. It ran about $25 for a pair. I'm still not 100% sure it will work perfectly as there is a slight variation in designs so I wouldnt run out and buy them just yet. Be patient with me LOL.

You're the guiney pig, bro! I'll sit and see how it works out for ya.

I like this little detail mods so I'm really hoping it works.

If you don't know which bolts to use though, check first to ensure that it goes on with the stock bolts before searching for some chrome ones. In a crash, it's vitally important that these things hold or you could find yourself not walking for the rest of your life or dead so you want to ensure you don't just use some shiny bolt you find and have it end up not strong enough.

Ok, I'm too computer stupid to figure out how to post a pic in here so I put a pic in my profile of the new striker. I tried to get new bolts and they dont have a part number for the new model. However, it seems the strikers have the same part number as the 04 Trailblazer so I went ahead and ordered the 04 bolts. They should be in Thursday or Friday and hope to install them this weekend. Wish me luck.

Looks pretty similar, though that's about the biggest and crappiest picture you could possibly have taken!

Have you tried bolting it on with the stock black bolts to ensure it works properly? It looks to have a slightly different shape to the striker itself though the base looks the same.

I dont know, i find that giving them a light acid bath and polishing them up works fine, but oh well.

Wild weasel, nope havent had a chance yet , but I'm off tomorrow.
Lawnmower, that would be the cheaper way to go, but I'm a lazy bastard LOL.
Jnickel, if thats the case I'm both glad and bummed. Glad because it looks so much better, bummed because I wasted my time.
